We all know the law regarding playing mp3's, if you own the original you can legally rip and publicly play them using Atomix or another app.
What if your house was burgled and all your music is stolen, it would be the end of the world for me if this happened. However if you still had all the mp3's would it still be legal to play them in public? You purchased the originals but no longer have them.
I'd be interested to know what other people think of this and how the law would deal with it.
Different countries may have different law's, I'm in the UK.

Here in Italy we have to keep always with us the original cds and vinyls: we can use mp3 in public only if we demonstrate we have the originals. However we can rip without problems in order to have backups.
