Topic: Automix - Bypass Fade-in when tracks overlap
Hello peeps,

I got a question about Automix and specific settings.

I did find most of the AutoMix features and use 'Remove silence' as a default setting. What I can't find is a specific setting for overlapping tracks. There's a fade time setting, but it works on both tracks. As the title of this topic already covers; I'm looking for a setting to bypass the fade-in for every new track being played. The Automix editor comes in really handy as a sort of director and it's possible to manually create a transition, but hopefully I'm overlooking something. I ran through most of the settings for Automix in the 'Options & Tweaks' menu but did not find it there yet.

Back in the zero's I used OTSDJ AV and sometimes I still use my licence to play some background music, because its smooth transitions and perhaps due to audio being analysed (?). Every next track starts without a fade-in. And no matter if the previous track ends in a fade-out or a sophisticated drum break, transitions never sound messy.

Unfortunately there's no feature to edit a playlist in OTSAV, like the Automix editor in VirtualDJ and the program lacks so many features Virtual DJ offers. So I need some education about VirtualDJ, how to bypass this fade-in I guess. :-)

setting: automixMode then select radio. It fades out the playing track then cuts in the new one with no fade (if that's what you're after)

It uses the mix "full" start POI to determine when the new track is played from.

I did not test this setting yet, thanks for the information. These POI settings perhaps are also involved in this.

However, when I drag some tracks to the Automix list, the Fade-in for every new track is still there. https://youtu.be/MT2PJIfd0vI
 
Do you have automix length set at 0 seconds?

It's working fine for me with that in place.
 
I've experienced the same 'Fade in' effect with the Radio setting, with the 'Automix length' set to 1 seconds. But indeed. My default setting for this is 0 seconds.

For example (or in my usercase actually) sometimes a track starts with a drumbreak, it's CUEing me when I'm performing. Or sometimes I just have a count-off at the beginning of tracks, A fade in will easily confuse me when I'm performing (with saxophone). So that's why I set the length to '0 seconds'.

When a Fade-out in a track is being cut somewhere near the end, no problem of course. The Automix editor seems to save sirten selected positions for tracks. But the 'Fade-in' on a next track being played, when added manually to the Automix list, with the 'Automix length' set to 1 second, it's just not allowed to bypass this somehow, even when editing this in the Automix editor. Or perhaps there just isn't a setting for this yet??
