Topic: Reloop Rp8000mk2 tempo drift issue
Hi guys

Im experiencing a slight tempo drift when mixing on the rp8000mk2 with timecoded viynl

I have tested on serato and there is no problem only in vdj

From what i can gather its a midi confliction issue.

Does anyone have a solution for this? Many thanks

Why do you think the drift is a MIDI issue?
 
Hi- what i think i mean is i dont see how its a hardware (wow/flutter) issue if its not apparent also in serato? Or is that just a flaw in the VDJ software?

The only solution i can find is to keep beatlock on but that has its own problems with certain transitions etc

I really dont want to go over to the dark side of serato lol

Is there any workaround for this? Or will i have to get phase? Cheers
 
I think you'll find that Serato has some kind of smoothing applied to their readout that hides the small variations, so it looks better but it's really still there.

At least that's what others have stated in previous posts...
 
Thanks- do you know the drift is still present when using phase?
 
Summary:

  1. DVS systems are different.
    As @groovindj said, Serato may smoothen out the BPM readout a bit more, especially if you turn antidrift on.
  2. The BPM readout shouldn't be the final guide for beacmatching, your ears and your hands should be.

    The second point is the more important point. Are you able to beatchmatch and keep the songs for a significant part of blending songs without the readout?


Phase wouldn't necessarily make a difference (e.g the tempo detection is identical in concept in DVS mode) but it is a little better in my experience, most likely because problems introduced by the needl (e.g. being dirty) and the record (being slightly warped) are eliminated.
I also find HID mode stablizes and holds a lot better/longer (there is probably some kind of smoothing involved there) but it is slightly slower to arrive at the stable BPM readout.

It will never be as stable as a controller though, (not even in Serato case either).
