I’m new to VDJ and i don’t understand how to use pitch faders of the controller in sync mode. Sometimes it works straight away, sometimes i have to slightly move the pitch fader in one direction then in the other one. How does it work ?

Sync is a one time operation - once you hit it, it will match BPM and align the nearest grid measure marker to the grid. If you are using DVS or a motorized platter, due to their physical operation, songs can eventually drift apart. If you need continual matching of grid/pitch, then beatlock needs to be activated. Syncing can also be matched by Phrase (i.e. incoming song's measure beat will match the same measure beat of the master deck) using phrase_sync (again, another 1 time operation).
Once you hit sync, and you load another song into that deck, then most likely your physical pitch will not match the software deck's pitch. At that point, controllerTakeoverModePitch controls the behavior of recovery. Read about that setting in the manual here.

Thank you, that was pretty clear.

Np...btw, all the verbs mentioned also have a way to trigger them to from the skin too (sync is obvious - the sync button, phrase_sync by clicking the phase counter up top, and there are various auto settings to trigger them on load/play).
You can map them to keyboard shortcuts or controller controls for easier access - all of that is up to you.
