What causes the "Remove from list" to be removed from the right click options in the browser. Some files can be removed from the list and some will not be gone, even though it looks like it is gone. It appears to be related to if you have an entry in the search box.

A search is a narrowing operation that is based on what is in the search database (that is independent of a list /could return results outside of the current list), so it would make sense to not have in the context menu.
If you are not searching and you see a track in a regular (non filter folder type) list, there is no ambiguity as to which list you would want to remove the track from.
There is an option to separate Search DB results by what is in the current list folder and and what isn't, so in theory there is a way to have removal for items in the search results in the list.
Minor feature request if it really bugs you, but you could just delete the search and manipulate the list with very minimum effort.

I understood that once I determined what the behavior was. However, The file was clearly in the folder and it disappeared from the display . Yes it is a minor irritant, but in the process of building playlists you could easily have a track in a list that you thought you had removed.
