Topic: Persistent freezing / disco ball of doom
Hi all. I'm a long time user of VDJ, on Mac, and have recently developed an issue I have never seen before.
Usually reliable and rock solid as a platform, on Saturday at a gig I experienced a Hall of Fame series of hangs, delays, freezes and crashes. They were so bad that I had to physically reboot the Mac half a dozen times or more and it caused me both embarrassment and severe lack of faith.

Preface: No recent updates to the Mac OS
No recent updates to VDJ since last successful gig.
Same Hard drive as has been used many times before.
These issues occurred with my Numark Platinum FX Pro, an old Mixtrack 2 Pro I keep as a backup and even just using the Mac headphones on their own and manually operating VDJ - yes ,it got that bad.
The Platinum is a new unit but I ran it set up for three sessions of four hours or more prior to taking it to a gig. No issues.

Having never had this issue before and not knowing if I am alone / stupid / missing something obvious / actually having an issue, I am reaching out for help. I currently have zero faith in working with this software and I have never had that before. I started on version 6...

Please help if you can!

It's funny how according to your description you had a pretty rock solid system for years, and suddenly a glitch made you loose faith on the software and not on the entire system as one would expect (part of which of course is the software)

That aside:

We need a lot more information about your system and how you operated it in order to be able to help you.
We were not there. We were not present. We can't possibly know what went wrong, and you're the only person than can dscribe it to us.

So, what's your MAC specs ?
You also mentioned that the behavior was present without any controller connected. Therefore we can exclude the controller(s) and their connection to your MAC.

Which MAC OS version do you run and which VirtualDJ build ?

Have you tried to reset your MACs SMC and/or PRAM/NVRAM ?

You said you have not updated anything recently (since last sucessfull gig). Have you installed anything new though ?

Were you connected at the internet at the time all this happened ?
If yes, have you tried to disconnect / shut down your MACs Wi-Fi ?

Have you changed any VirtualDJ settings recently ? Such as enabling STEMS ?

Have you tried again to see if the glitch got away ? Is this behavior still consistent / present ?
Can you use other apps on your MAC without ANY issue at all ?

There are hundred more questions we can do in order to troubleshoot and understand what happened, but it doesn't make sense to ask for every possible scenario.
Let's start by you answering some of the questions above and let's see where it takes us.. :)

I appreciate the variables, however having changed nothing that is what shook my faith as it would appear to be out of my control and put the software beyond the reach of even a force quit. When I got to that stage and forced the quit, if the entire MAC was not hard shutdown and rebooted (it simply would not restart) if I tried to reopen VDJ It just bounced on the dock and did nothing.
