I'm currently running ShowXpress on a second tablet when playing out with my PA and lighting. Having spent many hours programming I am happy with my results. However, I still need to interact with the software to change and trigger different feels when djing.
Along comes MaestroDMX which, it appears, is an AI sound to light DMX controller. On the surface it looks amazing, once you have setup the fixtures and other parameters, as it 'runs' it's own lightshow responding in real-time to an audio feed.
Does anyone run MaestroDMX? Is it as good as they say? Is it worth the investment?
Thank you for your comments!

Only seen it advertised like you. It sounds cool in theory. I tried Soundswitch a few years ago, which kind of does what Maestro does (except we manually instruct SS to script). I found it cool at first, but it cause wayyyyyy to much strobing for my liking. Also, the design in which you don't really have individual DMX sliders in the program, makes SS difficult to use with certain fixtures.
I can only imagine that Maestro has even less user input so it makes me apprehensive to invest that much in it. I hope it's awesome, competition and advancement is good.
I've ended up buying a Wolfmix mk1 and I think its going to be a really cool solution (but only if you like to do some switching/editing DURING your performance)

Hello,
I have got a maestro DMX controller which i use while doing Discos, Karaoke, Parties and Weddings. My setup is a portable setup which has multiple ways of settings up and a variety of lights which i tend to use between 4 lights and 12 lights depending on the venue i'm at. These lights also vary from laser lights, moving heads, scanners, disco ball effect moving heads, par lighting, spot lights, bar par ligthts with 48 channels each i currently use a total of 240 ish channels and i am very impressed with the results.
It is a great piece of kit and i can see why many are holding back due to the price being quite steep as it is still a working progress that keeps getting better and better without any additional costs. It is fairly straight forward to setup and add lights or as its known your stage. it has many different modes which you can group your lights up into 4 groups which can have different modes assigned to and a select colour pallet to each group.
when adding your lights you can browse a caterlog for your specific light which you then download and upload to your maestro, i also have a phone connected to maestro wirelessly to enable strobe and other effects.
it also saves where you left off so once you have turned it on it will automatically continue what ever it was doing last, so if your just wanting something quick and straight forward this is also a good piece of kit to make a good light show without any effort what so ever.
i wouldn't say it is as good as having a professional light designer but i would say it is very close and constantly moving closer. i set it up at home to keep trying different things with it and i am amazed with alot of its choice in movement and patterns especially on my 48 channel bar par lights it really does make the lights dance wonderfully to the music with scrolling patterns.
it is deffinitly better than wolfmix and sound switch.

I can see the benefit of this or SS or Maestro in a club or disco bar, but for functions and weddings I'd rather use ShowXpress and have individual control of the fixtures. My lighting is quite sedentary but if you're one of those guys who starts at 7pm with everything including lasers going crazy then this may be for you.
