When using crossfader how do I adjust bringing in the next track i'm trying to get the track to come in gradually not live straight away i have used FULL ,SMOOTH & CUSTOM settings but with no luck

Are you using a controller? It may have its own crossfader curve setting. If so, check that it isn’t set to an extreme cut which VDJ would not be able to change (it would never see the smooth values across the fader).

Yes, without knowing what equipment you're using, it's hard to give an answer.
If for example you're using VDJ in external mixer mode, then all the audio stuff (such as crossfader settings) will be handled by the equipment. The on screen mixer is bypassed.
