Ok what does this thing have to so with playing music from my phone then crossfade using my ddj400 to the virtual dj software? Can i just use some kinda cable im not recording my mixes.

You keep asking what kind of cable you need, but no one can give you a definitive answer because all you've mentioned is "my cell phone".
The cable required will depend on what type of audio output connection your phone has.
