VDJ has all of my music on my home network drives in the database is there any easy way to remove this, is it just a case of clicking on each drive and the "remove from database", only this does not seem to be working. Would I be best of deleting the data base and starting again?

"Remove from search database", does not actually remove the files from the database. It just flags them so that they won't show up on future searches.
Perhaps you could provide us with a few more details on what you're trying to do / where the problem is, in order to provide more help ?

You can use the "ignoreDrives" setting so that external drives won't show in the DB
