话题: Best place for Wedding DJ to buy mp3s
Hello all. I am just DJ'ing weddings, so I'm looking for Mp3s to buy of classic rock, pop, and dance music. I don't need anything like trance, house, or any club type stuff per se. Ideally I'd like to buy mp3s so I can store them on my computer, use them in Virtual DJ offline, and add them to Apple Music library playlist as my backup. I subscribed to iDJPool in VDJ, but I'm only finding 1/2 of what I need. Any recommendations?

honestly i'd say just to keep options open and avoid streaming - I use Amazon for my basic need a track in a hurry go-to album version, but for other stuff (mostly what I end up playing at the club) there are various pools with clean and explicit versions. shop around and don't limit yourself to only a few of them and be handy with the credit/debit card. and DON'T avoid buying video - and hard drives for storage - adding video capability lets you charge more for events.
when shopping I have multiple tabs open to whatever has what I need, but don't knock the ones that have other styles of music - you never know what some of them want to hear and all it takes is a few songs to turn Granny back into her old Raver self from the late 80's early 90's where she was grabbing the glowsticks and throwing off her top

I use https://songswave.com/ as it provided multi genres of music as well as a multitude of world music. (Being Greek i need a reliable place to get greek music)

But saying that i find it really useful for general music too, plus its relatively cheap compared to some of the other sites available. Plus can download full albums too.

I also like the fact it works on a credit basis, so i can load up 20euros for instance and leave it in the account. It then saves me needing to have my payment method with me the whole time.

Take a look and see.

The new John Legend album (£12.99 on iTunes) for less than three Euros? Doesn't look very legal to me.

Just to confirm, I looked to see if they're selling De La Soul's "Three Feet High & Rising" album digitally.

No other legal download sites offer that album, but surprise surprise there it is, for next to nothing.

My advice - AVOID.

I cannot make a comment on whether its legal or not, but i've come to the conclusion If it was illegal it would have been shut down by now as It's been going since 2009. Also just because it's cheap doesn't mean it's not legal.

Either way, whether one wants to use it or not is the choice of the individual, but it at least answers the OPs question of where you can find a good spread of back catalogue tracks across most genres.

It is, so I really don't know why @groovindj instantly jumps on any post discussing streaming/downloading etc.

Nobody cares and the chances of authorities anywhere doing anything about it is absolutely zero. In the UK police don't even turn up if your house is burgled or your car stolen so ripping something off Youtube isn't exactly high up their list of priorities.

Perhaps because anyone running their business professionally should be trying to stay within the law.

Even if you're not running a business, using dodgy sites is not the best idea - especially mentioning that you're doing so on an open forum.

Just because it's been around for a few years doesn't make it legal. People have been murdering each other for for centuries, yet last time I checked it's still a crime.

Ok firstly i'm not here to tell anyone how to run their business nor where to get their music from.
What i am simply saying is there is a perfectly good website where you "buy" your music from that has a vast catalogue available.

You do know that downloading music from either Beatport or iTunes and using the tracks to play out is also prohibited? As it is clearly stated in their terms of use that the downloads are for personal, non commercial use only. So where does this leave us in the end?

....but it's NOT a "perfectly good" web site. To me it's pretty obvious for the reasons given, so it's not rocket science.

If you choose to use it, so be it - but I'm pretty sure this forum has guidelines about things such as posting links to "suspect" sites.

...and yes I know about the personal use terms on some sites, which is why I get my music from a site licensed for professional use.

Indeed - I assume most of us are adults and don't need a granny constantly telling us that we should not perform unless we are absolutely sure all copyrights have been paid, all lyrics are legit, there's no drugs or harassment on the dance floor, all taxes are paid, and the loudness level never ever exceeds the legal limits. Let's have some fun!

Back on topic, i now download on the fly any music I need as I already have an extensive music and CDG collection. I tend to use the video pools xtendamix/wemix to add any tracks needed or ilikemusic if i dont need the video. CDGs mainly from Zoom although I will also use Vocal Star or sunfly. There are various specialist music collections also worth checking out on mastermix website

The video pools start at £15 a month for 20 downloads, £25 for 40, £40 for 100 and so on.
