Topic: set video effect for audio-only tracks

I would like to change the video effect for audio-only tracks with a pad button.
-- deck master video_fx_select "cover" & deck master video_fx -- activates the cover option for all files.
I am unable to figure out how to do this for audio-only files.

Suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Check audioOnlyVisualisation in settings
 
In script
effect_select audioonlyvisualisation cover

I wish there was a complete overview with all instructions available
 
Have you read the manual? That covers a lot of ground. Beyond that there's the wiki (aka knowledge database) with info on scripting, creating skins, plugins etc.
