First, if you really want people to help, make an effort to hold the camera steady and make sure everything is in focus.
master_volume affects the master volume which is on the MASTER tab. You'll find it along the top middle of the screen underneath the big waveforms - the tabs are labelled MIXER, VIDEO, SCRATCH and MASTER (1 in the picture). Click on MASTER to see the tab and then you'll see the control which should move (2 in the picture).

Another good idea would be to play some music, then turn the potentiometer. If it's doing what you want, then you will hear the volume changing!
