I have started to get familiar with Freestyler DMX and now I want to try MIDI control of various chases.
In order to do that, I hook my NI F1 midi controller in an attempt to see what midi data it sends and try to use it in Freestyler.
I tried to use MIDI-OX to monitor what data it sends, but I was not succesful.
I even don't know if this is necessary to achieve midi control of freestyler.
But I want to do something simple just to try, like: Press a button on F1 and that will start Chase 1 in freestyler.
Any advice is appreciated.

I think I understand the general concept now to add midi control in freestyler. With an Akai APC I was able to monitor midi messages with midi-ox.
What made me confused was the Traktor F1 and X1 (mk2) did not send midi so easily, for reasons I cannot tell.
Maybe PhantomDJ or DjDad can tell ?

HAPPY HO HO , Just linking the controller to freestyler . Open freerstyler dmx now go to set up and click on freestyler set up and go into the heading called external interface control.
Now at the top there is a in and out midi select your device and and then press the learn button on the screen at the bottom right. . Now it will be able to mark the button you pressed on the mapping . as you can see some of the features are blue this represents .anything that can be used with a dial. i suggest using toggle sequence as it is on and off of what ever you have pre made sequences . I also would map one of the buttons as it is master black out. Now save your work .. for led lights next to the dmx channel there is a on and off.. apc has a online explanation of that channels the led use and the corresponding to color . for example ... on the cmd the channel 2 was on and 4 was strobe of the red . 6 was green and 8 was strobe and 127 is off .. If you get stuck Im happy to help. now to link the virtual dj to the controller to the run freestyler is a different matter I wanted to link a sample to a cue and haven't find instructions to get this accomplished . I know that virtual dj is linked to send the beats to freestyler as there is a logo at the top of my freestyler telling me they are linked ..
