I use a DDJSX controller and the needle search function would only work when a track was loaded but not playing. It didn't work when the track was playing , I liked this arrangement. However I noticed this weekend that an update has changed this and needle search is now active all the time , I touched it by accident while playing live and the track jumped to where I touched. I don't know how long its been like this.
Build is currently 3573 needle search is active all the time and there is no setting in VDJ to adjust its behaviour . I've had at least 2 updates since first noticing the change.

Please check the mapping for the needle_search.
It used to be somthing like this:
is_audible ? $shift ? song_pos : nothing : song_pos

Nothing has changed on DDJ-SX native mapper for quite a long time.
Make sure that you are using the factory default mapper and try again.
