I've been using v7 on a Windows Vista machine for years till now. (Yes, vista still works ;) My main music has always been on a partitioned "G" drive on the main hard drive. I got a new Windows10 laptop and with it, I installed the latest v8.1 VDJ software which is also an upgrade. I've installed v8.1 successfully, and put my music onto a newly partitioned G successfully. But how do I get VDJ to find and then upgrade the database attached to the G drive? I found an "Ignore Drives" setting in the Options and it's set to default "0" which means it should search all drives.

copy the vdj datbase file from your old machine to your new one, it should work as usual.
ive moved databases between several hdd's in the past for backup purposes or one for home one for work etc. and theyve always worked flawlessly.

Thanks Blulite. I think I realize the issue. My G drive (that I copied) already has the entire /Virtual DJ/ folder with everything in it. Wasn't/isn't there a way to tell virtual DJ to "look" in a different path for it's main folder? My old machine is looking at this G drive (there isn't even a /Virtual DJ/ folder in /My Documents/) It's literally been at least 4-5 years since I've built my last machine.

you have a V7 database. First this need to be converted/updated to v8. Once thats done, you can then copy the v8 database to your new machine (G:\Virtualdj\databse.xml). Thats the v8 database is called now.
You can install v8 in the old machine. Run it and it will make a V8 database leaving your v7 alone. Then grab that new v8 database and dump it to your new machine.
