Hi all,
I've been djing for several years now with VDJ. I noticed in this new upgrade there was no compatable song folder, so of course I created my own with the filters thanks to these forums. I also own a Pioneer DDJ SX, and it came with Serato, now I havent used it but one night at a massive club I was DJing the main floor and had to deal with the resident DJ who told me I should use Serato dj. This isn't the first time I've had someone tell me this, I've also gotten the "Why don't you get a mac?"
I wasn't too thrilled and honestly I have a pretty great laptop, it's an Acer Aspire R. As long as the processor performs well and my computer doesn't crash during the set, I am more than happy.
So out of curiosity, I downloaded Serato for the first time. Needless to say, I didn't like that I had to recreate an entire library, where in VDJ, it saw my external hard drive folders immediately. Also there was no compatable song 'crate' that I could even create. But the most frustrating thing ever is that it didn't analyze ALL my tracks, I had to manually go search for the track it didn't list and drag and drop it into the serato player. Very unimpressed, as for sound quality? the same to me.
As for the loops, it doesn't display to me the half beats beneath the audio on the scratch view like VDJ does which makes mixing much less messy sounding when transitioning.
Anyone have any thoughts to the creation of the Compatible song crate? I dont mind if there isn't a way around it.

Simple solution:
Click on "file" under the right deck, and navigate to the folder you want, then drag the folder all the way to the bottom left corner of the browser list and it will make a "crate", replicating the browser in VDJ.
There are no limits on the number of crates you can make, same thing for playlists.
Click the + on the bottom and it will make a crate you can rename, just like VDJ.

Or he could just "rtfm"......... Your rant is weak at best. The only reason you had problems are your own fault. If you would have taken the time to get to know the software you would have had a better understanding of how to actually use it.
Now I'm no SDJ fan boy nor am a VDJ fan boy but I can use both with ease, in fact both libraries look exactly the same! Both are good programs. And I still think SDJ sounds punchier then VDJ, my opinion.....
Read up before you try and go off on something you admittedly know nothing about.......
