Topic: DualDeck mode (Usage / Techniques)..............

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

So on my Mixdeck Quad I had mapped a few buttons which gave me this functionality (you can find the thread in the hardware section for the scripts).

Anyways I added this to my Pioneer CDJ/DJM setup and I'm really clueless as to how I would use this other then scratching, lol!!

Sooooooo if you use this function let me/us know how your using it. Sometimes fresh eyes can see things im not, lol!!

Forgive my ignorance but what is it for?

[Meatloaf mode]

You took the words right out of my mouth

Are you referring to 4 deck mode Beatbreaker?
If so, I don't really need the extra two decks for anything other than scratch samples (important). I'm not keen on mash ups on the fly. Almost everything which might have gone on these decks can go in the sampler, even whole songs.
I'm starting to think 4 deck volume faders may be too many.
However I have got 5 Akai volume faders mapped to my sampler !

Catch up fellas, lol!!

Here's an example and yeah I know its SDJ but there's no videos showing its use with VDJ...........yet

And yeah Ron the sampler is good but the problem is, when you run the samples threw a deck you only have 1 set of eqs for all your samples and that's not a good thing....... How are you gonna drop the bass outta 1 track and the kids in another when you have them in the sampler?? You can't so you kinda still need decks to do certain things (well I do anyways).

Hopefully that video will get your minds wondering at the possibilities. PUSH the envelope fellas, step out your comfort zone

Is this feature documented as I can't see anything about it in the manual (which appears to be out of date anyway)

No Keith, its all script magic, lol!

People first started asking about it when the DDJ series came out. Someone had asked about it and George being one of the script gods told us how to do it.

I love it for scratching but there's gotta be more I can do with it, lol!!

The video's not a very good example! OK he shows that there are two decks playing, each with a different track. But he doesn't really explain why.

You've said yourself that you're clueless how to use it. :-)

When the video started off, I was expecting maybe the ability to scratch one deck and have it stay in sync when you're done - but no, it scratches both.

So it lets you control two decks as if they were one. Point? You can't even use it for old skool phasing, because presumably they'd stay locked together....

Expand it to four decks perhaps, and use it for Stems (if VDJ supported them).

If I had two tracks that blended so well I wanted to play them together in their entirity, or use FX or loops etc on both at once, I'd be more likely to do the job permanently in Live rather than do it this way. Maybe that's just me. :-)

Never said I was clueless and I can do things with it, just want to expand on it and wanted to see if anybody had any input and of course from the VDJ forums nothing but negativity, lmmfao!!

And he showed you exactly what it does, your press a button and now you can control decks 1&3 or 2&4 at the same time. What more do you wanna see???

You can set your tracks to start from anywhere you want and if I was gonna scratch a track and keep it in time I could do that manually or just use slip mode......

And its just that you can control both with 1 platter, all fxs, loops and eqing is independent of one another.

I just don't think is on your level because it seems as if you guys (Groovin & Ron) preplan everything, doesn't seem like you guys are actual performers, you just hit play and go, nothing spontaneous. I could be wrong and I hope I am because that would be boring as hell to watch or listen to, lmao!!

Anyways I just go back to the Serato forums and ask there.

Thanks for the insight though

That was only yesterday. Is your memory that bad? LOL

I'm not being negative, just realistic. It doesn't really seem that useful, is all.

BTW in Serato DJ, dual deck mode does link more than just the platter. I checked the manual. So if VDJ doesn't do that, it's even less useful (it would seem).

I certainly don't preplan everything. I've got a gig in a couple of hours and aside from being given a rough idea of genres from the client, I don't know what I'll play or when. Completely on the fly, as in most cases. I'm not a performer though, I'm a DJ. The crowd are not there because I'm playing. They just want to party!

what ever you decided to use that for, you had better plan ahead and test and practice or you will end up with a mess just my 2 cents

Ok Groovin you got me, lmmfao!!

I'll be alright, just gotta find a use for it live......which I will

I've thought about this feature for a while...and come to the conclusion it's a pathetic Serato attempt to innovate. Don't waste your time with such a feeble offering. Both Ableton, and Rekordbox offer solid pathways which enhance the VDJ8 user experience, although both demand deep study.
It appears that a fancy scratch is Serato's answer to the tidal wave of creativity displayed in VDJ8.

Not really sure you can blame it all on Serato as Pioneer did add buttons to their controllers for this feature.

Not everybody uses Live, theirs still alot of us out here that still remix on the fly.

I was working with this today and I've come up with a few things that sounded pretty decent.

Just give me time......
