What you're referring to is called cueing or prelistening. It's an essential and basic part of what DJs do.
If you need info, just use Google. There are plenty of web sites and videos around that explain how to use a DJ mixer.
The mixer in VDJ works in the same way as a real physical mixer, so you can still learn from sites/videos that use a real mixer.
What you will need to cue in VDJ though is two stereo audio interfaces, or a single interface with two stereo outputs. One for the main mixer output and the other for your headphones.

Ideally you want an audio interface designed for DJ use such as a Traktor Audio 2 or a Numark DJIO.
Another option is to buy a controller that has the audio stuff built in.
One other option (which requires a special cable) is to use a "split cue" that sends master in mono to one channel and the cue signal in mono to the other. The compromise there is losing stereo.

thanks. so I will just start a song on deck one than when it is near done I will mix in a song a deck 2.then back to deck one with new song, deck 2 etc. Could I like have 10 songs total recorded then burn it to cd? or would the recording take up too much mb and not be able to go on a blank cd. I just recorded thru vdj ver 7, a 1 minuet of a song and it was 2.2 mb for only 1 minuete. a 700 mb cd could only load 5min and 30 sec total at the amount of mb used. I also checked some .mp3 songs I have and they were around 4.37 mb for a 4min and 30 sec song...just wondering
