I finally decided to try out vdj8 on our club computer. I had installed it before and it obviously made the new vdj8 databases (this was many months ago).
When I ran it this time the database was obviously old compared to our vdj7....and it had many weird folders and odd drive names..it just did not look right. I spent a few hours adjusting settings for the club and it seemed okay. Then I deleted one of the weird favorites folders that had appeared...when I did that an EXTREMELY loud squeal came out in the club, the program crashed, closed, reopened...and kept playing.
However, all settings returned to factory default, video would not come up.
So, I have it mothballed til I can do some things...and hoping someone has some hints...
1) how to I delete the vdj8 databases so I can have the program re-grab the vdj7s...hoping that will fix the weird stuff that appeared in the browser folders.
2) how do I ensure that the program will not reset every setting I do when it crashes, making it useless to us?
3) have they come up with a club solution yet? A club account of some kind that allows the club to ensure the djs are using the house computer, better quality videos...... we don't really have the net in the booth, so the whole login logout makes it unusable at the moment...
while it was working, it was okay. Although the effects did not work like vdj7 when I click and unclick it for tellymedia or slideshow...it would turn it on, then off, but not able to click it on again without using drop down. Sound was great though, too bad it crashed like that...very scary crash.

well, nevermind I guess..
I am at home and was using it solely to listen to new music and move good stuff to a new folder... maybe did 10 songs. It crashed and reopened four times, reseting even minor changes to the browser and crashed once turning into a giant black screen.
Guess my computer and vdj8 just don't work at all....
so nevermind, we are definitely not going to be using it as is... ugh.

A quick tip, you are going to have to leave some specs. Like VDJ 8 build, contorllers, windows or mac....

There is one crash logged for your account which seemed to be caused by Telly Media.
If you didn't do so already, make sure you are using the latest version for vdj 8.

Just delete all your database.xml files and reopen V8.
It will now create a new database with the latest infos of your V7 database.
If you want to make sure all your settings are saved, just close and reopen VDJ once you adjusted all settings.
Apparently VDJ will save the settings only when you are closing VDJ. If you did some adjustments and VDJ is crahsing, all changes are lost.

As far as I know, the latest... version 8.0.0 pc build 2352.1034. Windows 7, home with just regular audio card, work through a basic rane mixer.

I could find no crash logs at all. At work, not hooked to net. Most of the crashes at home involved task manager to close the program. If you could point me to logs, sure would make it easier to check it out.
Not sure when that crash happened with telly media, is there a date on that log? Was not using it during crashes at all.

was not sure which was vdj7 database and which ones were vdj8 as none of them are named as such...does that include just the ones on the drives, or also the ones in the program folder?
I will continue to play with it....and try to save settings. Really want to use this at work, but in current condition, user or software, just cannot do it safely.

at home.....crashed 5 times in the last 1/2 hour. By crash I mean the entire area of the program turned black...and if it did come back nothing worked right...3 times had to task manager, twice is came back and I had to close/reopen.
Almost every single crash was during a file operation such as 'move to'.... one was when I deleted a favorite folder...same as at work.
guess I don't know how to use the program at all....lol
