Topic: Regarding tutorial videos thread

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

Is it possible to just post a screenshot of a part of the youtube video and a link to youtube, instead of embedding the videos?

It takes a significant amount of time for the browser to load all the embedded videos. And it gets slower and slower and slower with every new video added.

Because now it's a bit more difficult to look these tutorials (fullscreen) on my smartphone. With a link I would get the question if I want to open the vid with the YouTube app.

it doesnt take THAT much longer time to load than an image would ;) it adds 1-2 seconds max .. not a huge problem vs the easiness of watching the vids from forum, without having to leave site ;)

the link is auto inserted by youtube at top of every video ;)

Yes, but an image would get cached and the site will load much faster the second time you visit the thread.

I just timed the loading of the page. It's was around 12 seconds.

its non blocking loads, as iframe, so the page loads instant, as it fetches the youtube content in the background ;)
But ok, i'll keep an eye on it, and perhaps optimize it

I have tried the thread a couple times. The way it loads on my iPad and phone takes a bit of time. I find it much faster to just go to the YouTube channel.

sure its faster on youtube ;) but the purpose of embedding is to allow users to watch the videos without having to leave site ;)

Anyways, there is an alternative if one is on a slow phone, or just prefer links instead :

Hm you are right... at least for chrome.
But not for IE. In IE the whole browser gets blocked.
Yes yes, I know,... but most of the day I'm forced to use that browser....

I missed that one. It has been bookmarked.
I use IE as well (on purpose ;))
