What update?!?
 
They released version 8 in the iTunes Store yesterday.

I've just dug out my 1st gen ipad from under the table leg it was propping up.
 
Bad news .... I updated the app but it doesn't start on my ipad 1st gen running iOS 5.1.1

When I click it the screen flashes then goes back to the Apple desktop. Bummer!
 
Great looking update. BUT there's a BIG problem with it, it doesn't auto-rotate on the screen and it's upside down if I use it with my smart cover folded into the triangle to prop the ipad up at an angle :(.

If your on a PC, you can recover the old version from the recycle bin.
 
Mine worked after a while, had to untick the box at the bottom right corner in VDJ8 "look for old v7 remotes". Then had to de-authorize and delete previous versions from VDJ8, eventually got it working correctly.

One problem I had with the previous version and probably with this one (I'll find out tonight). Works fine at home, but, at the Hotel that I work at it will not connect through the Hotel's public wi-fi. Laptop and iPhone are on the same wi-fi, but, won't talk to each other. Dunno if the Hotel's public wi-fi is different to my home wi-fi.

I tried tethering it to my iPhone at the Hotel, but, that didn't work either. We'll see if I get any success tonight.
 
Many public Wifi networks do a user seperation so you can't see any other device. In that case you need to use your own hotspot instead.

In my eyes the best way s to buy a small hotspot, connect your Computer by wire to prevent any WLan driver issues and connect the iRemote device to the Hotspot.

Do you have to be on the newest VDJ build on Mac to be able to use the new features of VirtualDJ Remote?
 
Finally I've found a use for my Android tablet, was gonna sell it as I never use it. Just switched it on and it wants to update 56 Apps!!! Told you I didn't use it lol. Probably take all day ha ha ha. Unfortunately will have to pay again though, I already have it on my iPhone. Oh well..........

Not sure if there is a hotspot available on the tablet, will check after it's finished updating all these apps lol. If not, then will just stay with my iPhone at the Hotel as I can create a hotspot with it. It won't be worth buying it for Android as well if I can't use it anywhere but at home.

Oh, just had a thought. The Hotel has a private network for the staff, I wonder if it is the same as the public network. Will have sweetheart one of the staff for the password to try it. :-)
 
That's it, I'm buying an Android tablet for this :)
 
Ok, just got the update. It's <bleep> upside down. How do you change this? I use my ipad in a alesis io dock and can't turn it around. Using the performance pad skin only.

I updated it but it only works for a short time then stops working. And...it only works with Home Wi-fi..not Public Wi-Fi..not even hotels or banquet halls with wi-fi
 
Most public wifi setups use device isolation, so one device cannot talk to another. If the underlying infrastructure doesn't allow devices to communicate then there is nothing we can do about that.

Your best bet would be to use your own AP or Adhoc setup.

You said your pad was unused for a while, is it up to date o/s wise?
 
It's not possible to update a 1st gen iPad past 5.1.1 (which is what Keith and I are running).
