i am going to buy a backup controller (i have the ddj sb but i am not so crazy about it) , and since i have the ddj sx i was thinking about these 2 controllers :
pioneer ddj sr & reloop terminal mix 8
i do want the 8 pads per deck , 2 channel is ok but 4 channel would be a bonus.
what do you think and why ?

I have both the DDJ-SR and the older Teminal Mix 4 (without pads but otherwise close to the same as the TM8). They are both great, so you can't go wrong with either of them. I love the big low-profile platters of the TM4/TM8, but if you normally play on the DDJ-SX, I would go with the SR, since the feel is the same
But if it's going to be a "pure" backup controller that you'll only use if something happens with the SX, are you sure you want to spend the money?
I know the SB is limited compared to the SX, and feels "plastic'y". But it's also light, and on most (close to all) nights you won't be using it, if I understand you correctly
To be honest I normally bring a Hercules dj control mp3 e2 and a splitter cable as backup for mobile gigs, even though I have nicer but bigger/heavier controllers at home. It won't be a nice night for me if I have to use it, but it'll be ok for the guests and it weighs next to nothing. I've never had to use it yet, and have only come close once (it turned out to be a bad USB cable)
So to simply "finish the night" I would be happy with the DDJ-SB :)

If you can find a good deal for Vestax VCI-400, they can be good back ups too. I have SRT/2000NXS, 1200s/61, SZ & SX2 and still bought these for backups and travel purposes.

i think that you are correct..500+ euros for a backup controller is a bit much.
i am pleased with the sb so i will hang on to it for a while longer.
