Topic: New to VDJ, New to DJ'ing!!!!

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

Hi

I've recently joined an internet radio station as a presenter, and have, up till now, been basically cobbling together my show with non VO'd links and using Spotify to play songs. It's been fairly reasonable enough up till now, and now I've started to build up a bit of confidence in what I am doing, I am looking to make my show's more professional. With this in mind, I've been looking at a couple of DJ'ing programmes (Have been using Deejay2 with Spotify, and have downloaded RDJ as well). RDJ however, has no Spotify synchronisation which is a bit of a pain in the bum, as, not being a professional DJ, my music collection away from Spotify is either pretty sparse or not suitable for public use. As I want to do everything legally and legitimately (I have coverage from the PRL and PRS licences), I'm looking for a service that is A) going to make my shows sound professional and B) give me the ability to conjure up songs at will. If its easy enough that a chimp could use it, so much the better!!!!

My question is - Is Virtual DJ the right package for me? I've had content unlimited explained in a rough form to me, and it sounds ideal for my needs, however having looked at the site, it appears that there seems to be issues with obtaining a subscription for this at present.

I'll repeat: I'm not a professional, I'm technically useless, and it really is just a bit of a hobby that I'm going to be putting some effort and dedication, and a little bit of disposable income into getting right. If anyone here can point me towards what I need, then that would be immense. Sorry if not much of this makes sense!!!!

You are right CU is a problem right now, the provider got shut down, that is due to be fixed asap.
As for VDJ being right for you, probably yes, VDJ is known to be the most beginner friendly, but it isn't just a beginners software,

what licence you need depends on your needs.

Do you broadcast live, or do you prerecord? (broadcasting live needs a full licence or a subscription)
If you pre record and aren't beng paid to perform then a controller (AKA a "plus" licence) will be enough to record and run a controller.

Thanks for the reply.

I do a mixture of pre record and live so, even though I do it on a budget, the monthly subscription package would probably be the way forward for me.

Is there a way of using cached Spotify files through VDJ as a kind of work around until CU comes back online to be able to subscribe to? I have enough tunes to just about bluff my way through the next couple of shows, but the whole point of getting VDJ is to stop the blagging!!!! RDJ hacked me off to the point that I just gave up with it, and went back to the original method of using Algoriddim through my ipad to play songs from Spotify directly, and using the stations own soundboard to do sweepers and VO beds (when I remembered to cue them up of course!!!!! It's not an ideal setup, but it just about cobbles together a moderately listenable show. I just want to do better than that!!!!! As a guide I use a Windows 7 laptop, so using Algoriddim as a more solid foundation is off the table. I've been recommended VDJ by more experienced DJ's (of both the Broadcast and Superstar varieties!!!), and CU has been praised as well. Just seems like a very handy all in one setup that would work nicely

No there is no legal way to to use spotify content with VDJ.

I too DJ & present on an internet radio (Harbour Bazaar) Problem with Spotify when broadcasting live (or as live) is that it is necessary to clip the last seconds of a track and manually end before the next track listed kicks in and runs on. This is easy enough off air but with guests, links in the studio, etc it is one more unnecessary thing to think about when running a show. My advice is to buy your tracks, build up your collection, only use Spotify as an absolute backup and use Virtual DJ. Cheers

fyi if you want to broadcast direct to a shoutcast or icecast you will need a pro license
