Topic: Reloop Neon - Opinions?

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

Hi all,

Is anyone out there using the Reloop Neon, and if so, how has the experience been? None local for me to try out so I'm going on reviews & opinions only... (not at all how I like to shop)

I have not got any experience with this device, but I cannot see it being a rival to the Akai Mini (about £70 new). Two of our best forum members, Mr Jackson & groovindj use this sub controller, whilst the excellent script demon locodog is busy helping everyone with their problems, he really is quite good, which means you'll get great support. Another advantage of the Akai Mini is that you get a copy of Ableton Live Lite which is good enough to warp an old track in preparation for remixing.
I'm still using a Traktor F1 which is very good, although I bought it to investigate Traktor Pro 2 and their remix decks. Hm and then I bought Ableton Standard for remixing, not the cheap options, and I claim to be frugal!

I've got an Akai APC MINI and a pair of Reloop Neons here and IMHO they have different purposes. The APC Mini is great for large sample overviews, but suffers with a lack of pad colours, lack of velocity and small buttons.

The Neon is an excellent little controller, big easy to hit pads, ideal for hotcues, loop rolls, slicing, that kind of thing. It's also good for small sample banks. It is an excellent accompaniment to turntables and CDJs.

I did not have the sense to ask what you were using, I just assumed it was a controller with hotcue, and effects capabilities, in which case the Mini is excellent for controlling the sampler. I only use my F1 for sampler control. The buttons, and colours are excellent.

Ya sorry, I should clarify. I've already got an APC40 and a Launchpad Mini laying around for when I need access to big banks of buttons. I'm looking at the Neon as a way to add pads to non-padded control surfaces, such as CDJs or the pair of SC2000s I use in one of my setups.

If comparing, how do the pads feel vs the Pioneer SX? I know what those feel like and get the impression these are similar...

Don't apologize, we'll become so "politically correct" we'll be frightened to speak.

Id say the Pioneer DDJ-SP1 is the way to go. I tried the neon and just didn't like the layout, plus i lost effect parameter knobs. I also didn't like that I had to have 2 (not that you do but I don't like everything layered) and then I didn't like the placement. I like how the SP1 sits in the center and above my mixer (my laptop sits off to the side).

Could be that I've used the SP1 for so long its like 2nd nature to me now, lol!! Also I didn't try it with VDJ so it be a little different then Serato but either way I wasn't a fan.

The Neon is a handy little sample trigger. Or, as pointed out, great for looping and other effect triggers.
