Topic: How does remix mode in sampler works?

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

As the new features in VDJ8 describe, the sampler can be run in "remix mode" and that makes me curious. But how does it work?
Further, is there samples / instruments available to automatically match a track's bpm?
I see so many cool things I could do with this :)

Well, I just discovered that sampler is actually matching the deck's bpm by default.
All I can say is: This is F***ing awesome. THUMBS UP

I'm a bit unclear as to the advantage of remix mode cue points over the standard. My main controller has 4 hot cues, it can deal with 8 but I don't like layering. Standard Cue points can be beat synced. Remix mode makes the cue points appear in the sampler matrix which can then be used with a sub controller. In my case an F!. This is good, but I'm happy with the sampler alone under F1 control. The samples can be synced, so why remix mode?

Yes....so top 40 tracks with quiet intros can easily be mixed by overlaying drum, hi hat and whatever.
You can also take a slow song with a bpm @60, overlay the elements of project 8 (which I think is excellent) at 120bpm, and blend it into a house mix..
I like Imagine covered by Eva Cassidy with the project 8 sample pack. Eva Cassidy at 60bpm, and project 8 at 120bpm. Oh ..and include some scatch samples.

See for project 8 download http://www.virtualdj.com/plugins/index.html?category=samples

This is starting to look a little bit like a New World Order for DJ's.
Traktor started this with their remix decks.

We need a controller with a 4x4 (or more) sampler button matrix built into it on the side. There again the future might be the modular approach of Behringer, rather than a Pioneer beast.

APC MINI is what you want

Agreed..although I have not as yet used this Akai controller. I got the F1 to use with Traktor, and it turned out to be very good with VDJ 8.

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong here but.
I have played a lot with the sampler the last few days and it's good so far but there is a few things that comes up:

Is there a way to make the samples snap on beat, I have smart cue / play activated. I have some rhythms loops from VDJ download section, but it can be a little tricky to get the exact on beat. I need to adjust with pitch bend somewhat to have them exact.
Also, if the samples are started first, then deck is started, I noticed the same thing, sometimes does not start on beat.
Is it possible to load a sample on a deck and make the sample visible on the beatgrid waveform to make it easier to match them more closely?

Locodog has made a critical point, the beatgrids must be accurate.

"Is it possible to load a sample on a deck and make the sample visible on the beatgrid waveform to make it easier to match them more closely?"
If the sampler output is routed to a deck, as suggested by groovindj, then yes!
This may have fantastic potential.

If the sampler output is routed to a deck, the sample is not visible in the CBG window.
But, if the sample itself is loaded to a deck (as a ordinary track) the CBG is visible.
In my opinion, the sampler should have it's own dedicated CBG waveform.

Routing the sampler output to (or more accurately via) a deck does not display the sample waveform. All it does is use that decks "mixer channel" as an output, so you can apply the EQ and FX on that decks channel to the sampler signal.

People have been asking Atomix for years to allow the decks to be samplers, but nothing doing (as yet anyway).

You can load samples to decks, and hence do lots of deck-like things to them, but the main problem is getting them to loop like sample slots.

I'll be suprised if the sampler output correctly routed does not show up as a wave. If I remember right a line input will show up as a wave..I could be wrong.
Added "Hm.. wrong"
I'm looking forward to doing further reseach into the sampler.
All my gear is packed, and ready to go to work at the moment.

Groovindj, I like the bold text!

Trying to create some loops by help of the loop sampler (by first recording parts of tracks)
Unfortunately I was quite dissapointed of the very limited actions it can do.
Guess you should aim to produce sample loops in external software, with more copy / paste / effect functions.
The sample editor does not contain much really.
