Topic: Dazed and confused! HELP!!! - Page: 1

ok here is where I'm at.. I have the Numark Mixtrack Pro II and I'm experiencing some serious audio issues. I'm running Virtual Dj 8 with no issues.. when I play tracks in ITunes the levels are fine.. high's are crisp,
bass is low and hitting. When I play the same tracks through the controller they sound muffled.. almost distorted.. poor quality. So I opened Serato Dj in which I don't want to use and played the same track and they were
fine again. Looks like Serato imports the tracks straight from ITunes. So why then are the same tracks sounding so bad through the controller??? I then disconnected the controller and played the same tracks through
Virtual Dj via the computer's keyboard function.. same result.. they sound like s***! Can anyone help or have had a similar experience that can shed some light on this subject please??? I have a huge gig in 2 weeks and need to correct whatever
is going on.

Sounds like the limiter, turn the gain down.
 
Thanks for responding but I have checked the limiter and it's set it 0.0 on both sides..
 
Please check your settings in VDJ config for:

ultralatency
overclock
pitchquality
exclusiveaudioaccess

All these and more can have an effect on sound quality if they're not set right. Change them. Listen to see if it makes a difference.

Because VDJ caters for such a wide range of hardware, it's not really possible to have a "one size fits all" solution - so you need to adjust as required.

Also are you using ASIO4ALL by any chance?
 
Thanks for the info I will check those settings as well.. also I was using the ASIO with the Mix Track but it didn't need it with the Pro version
 
ok what should these settings be set to? This is what mine are set on:

exclusive Audio access: no
latency: automatic 256
overclock: yes
 
They should be set to........whatever works best for you.

If the sound is not right as is, then try different settings.
 
You havent enabled any Effect or Filter btw, right ? Are you using the default mapping or some custom ?
As for the ASIO4ALL drivers, you should uninstall and try with the Windows (Wasapi) drivers.
 
As far as mapping I don't believe so.. I'm using the mapping for the Numark Mixtrack Pro 2 off of Numark's website. The only additional mapping was reversing the crossfader (Hamster Style)
Thanks for all of your suggestions.. I'm trying like crazy to get this straighten out. Like the previous statements the sound is perfect in Serato which I'm NOT a fan of.
I love the versatility of Virtual Dj.. the skins.. it just works for me..
 
If you record the sound from within vdj (from options->record) and then play the recorded file in iTunes, does it sound the same or does it sound good then?
 
Have you tried playing though the line out on the computer If it sounds ok with the line out then you know it has something the do with the mixtrack
 
I have tried the line out on the computer it is the same.. it looks like or sounds like something with the software. If I play the same mp3 through iTunes its fine..
and that's whether its by keyboard or the controller... mystery indeed! I do appreciate everyone who are trying to help in this situation..
 
just a quick one.
what is your setting in config/options zero db?
could you take a screen shot of the master panel when a song is playing and post it?

Try settings, options Reset Almost sounds like a filter is activated

You do realise that a controllerist license is only for home use?
 
I honestly don't know anything about a controllerist license.. or how that even refers to me. I'm a mobile Dj who mas made the transition to the controller. That bought a license
to unlock the features of the Numark Mixtrack Pro II.. so I have no idea what that is.. but I do thank you for letting me know.
 
Your profile shows you as a "Controllerist Member" which means you bought a Plus license - one intended for home users who wish to use a controller.

As clearly stated on both the price page here and the buy page here, only the Pro (subscriber and infinity) licenses permit use at paying gigs by working DJs.

The free Home version and the controller (Plus) version are for home use only.
 
Then I guess I'm upgrading then.. thanks for the extra set of eyes! Now if I can get problem #1 figured out..lol
 
As previously suggested, please ensure that the filter knob on each channel is off. Also check to see if you have any FX enabled that may be affecting the audio output.

Where are your EQs set? All flat?

It's difficult to diagnose this remotely as we can't see your setup or hear whatever you're hearing. Perhaps you should contact support and let them access your computer.
 
Looks like dropping the "zeroDB" down to 0.55 did it.. sounds a lot better.. thank you for all of your suggestions and comments.. appreciate the help!
