Thanks for working out timecode and becoming an almost complete Software, now it time to perfect these audio fx and maybe a more intuitive waveform. But all in all, great job.

Yes please we need quality effects like in serato and traktor ....

WE got vst Support! What's better than that? ;)

@Advokut I agree, but I think that when people ask for effects "like in serato and traktor" (sic) what they're after is copycat effects - ones that are exactly the same as those provided in the other software.

A fixed selection that can't be changed/added to. The same selection as all the other users of that software are stuck with.

They don't want to have freedom of choice and the ability to use pro studio standard plugins.

They want to be able to say "I've got the same effects as you" to their friends who use Traktor or Serato software. :-)

LOL

The stock effects of V8 could be a bit better (W/D on every FX would be good), also I don't like how they've been internalised so you can only have one instance of each effect per deck. (V7 I did the renaming/hex trick to have several beatgrids, and have an echo effect on an echo effect)
I think head to head (1 against 1) there isn't that much of a difference, but Trkr/Srto sort of spoon feed fx chaining and they share interesting chains, were as with VDJ you've got to figure it out yourself.

But given that VDJ allows unlimited active effects and VST(e)s I feel the other softwares offer less opportunity for creativity.
Once SBDJ's "script (therefore FX) sequencer" is released there'll be no doubt, it'll be Trkr/Srto users with all the FX envy.

No not at all what i mean...and dont try to paraphrase for me and then mock me, not gonna go in a good direction. So let me clarify.
Im talking Post fader effects, because effects like loop out and echo out are just work around and they sound horrible, loud clicking at the end off the effect. They should be post fader then they well be real echos and delays. This prevents cut offs, leaves trails, and being they are matched to the beat grid it doesnt react properly. Beatgrid and things like that should be pre-fader. And yes every other softwares have figured this out. And when i need those type of effects, yes i go to traktor.

What makes you think I was addressing/answering/responding to your post?

The term I used was "people". Not necessarily referring to you or anyone else in this thread.

Ah OK now you've clarified by being more specific.

Since i asked, then Im one of those people, so im not a sugar coater or a back tracker, I said what I said.(period)...not lets get back to the discussion at hand.

But you do understand where im coming from with the post fader comment. I just felt it would make those effect sound smoother and could add a lot of options to the mix that seems to be standard across the board. Some things being adapted from a standard is not always bad. Could be a good reason they are standard. really i feel if PFFX are added, with timecode being what it is now, also paying more attention to the waveform functionality Virtual dj would actually be where it says it is.

It'll get there, it won't happen in the 8.0 builds as it obviously wasn't in the plan. Finish the old stuff before tackling the new stuff.
The volume effect is a step in the right direction, (a pretty recent addition, that was overlooked for a good few years) maybe 8.1 will have this as an "always on" FX and the channel upfaders be permanently connected to the FX.
Maybe another way entirely (Ideally postfader slots for delay based FX) (maybe funky 99 deck rerouting)

Of all the messy hacky user (me) made scripts there must be a couple that Atomix can neaten up and internalise to a single script but I wouldn't expect to see anything before 8.1 beta, at the earliest.
All that said acknowledgement (atomix saying PostFX are on the drawing board) would be nice. *Breath firmly not held*

Yes, i am so excited that I can use my time codes with virtual dj again!!!!!!!!!. I played on them for hours last night and did not have any problems.

As for the effects, are you guys using the new effects that came out with virtual dj 8? The echo effect is the closest thing I have used since the EFX 500. You dont need it to be a post fader effect because there is a button that kills the incoming sound, leaving a nice long echo/fade out. You can also adjust how the fade out is by turning the effect knob to the left. If you dont wan to push the button to kill the incoming signal, you can turn the effects knob to right.
Flippin double works fine, the beatgrid works fine, the filters are a lot better.

There are also effects on the master channel, that work well.

I use Traktor, but I never liked their effects.

Im just speaking on echos delays and reverbs, i feel what you mean with the trailable echoes, but the draw back for djs such as my self that often load a track quickly to the deck that i just made it an echo out effect to, which then cuts the trails off. With a script from locodog i can mimic it and when it works properly its a great effect when dealing with acapellas and such. I never understood why VDJ was be so short-sighted on things like effects, waveform and editors. You pitch a function then say we chose against it, the other softwares see your users asking for things, adapting the idea for themselves, making it work and now we still asking. Prime example. serato flip.
