Hi guys, i'm a complete beginner hoping to get into DJing. I have picked up the Numark total control with the DJIO soundcard. However, i'm completely confused by the RCA. In plain english can someone please tell me who i would connect a set of speakers to the DJIO. I haven't purchased any speaker yet because i'm completely unsure about what to buy. THANKS!!

Depends on what your going for. Basically, any speaker/audio monitor with RCA inputs will do. I use M-Audio AV40 monitors to practice at home. Pretty affordable for the quality you're getting for beginners sounds set up. Very easy "hook up"

What do you mean by "a set of speakers"?
Are you planning on just DJing at home, or will you be going out and doing gigs? You'll need different types of speakers for home vs gigs.
Then there are passive speakers (which need connecting to an amp) and powered speakers (which have the amp built in).
As long as you have the right cables, it doesn't matter what connectors the speakers have.

Hi guys thanks for your replies. I'm confused how to set up those speakers you've pictured. There are only 2 RCA inputs on the monitor, but 4 on the soundcard. How would I connect them to my soundcard?

Well I'm afraid that £70 is just about the absolute rock bottom for a pair of "studio monitor" speakers.
Really you ought to be looking at double that for something reasonable. The ones I use are KRK Rokit RP5 which are around £220 per pair.

If you are using a mixer, then the outputs from the DJIO, would go channel 1 and channel 2. If you are not using a mixer, output 1 would go to your speakers. Some monitor speakers have RCA inputs, if not then you would have to get adapter cables. Take a look at the video on the DJIO site here.
