I had a few issues with VDJ7 but since using VDJ8 it works fine for me - the only important thing to note however is you need to use a 4 deck skin

The controller doesn't seem to like 2 deck skins although it does actually work, albeit your faders seem a bit confused on what deck they are mapped to. e.g. track on deck 1 sx faders for both deck 1 & 3 work if that makes sense !

What problems are you having?

the tracks are playing but none of the slide fades work

totally stuck with the pioneer sx with vdj - are all the functions like the auto cue supposed to work with this controller?

No problems with v8 or v7.

Are you using the default 2 deck skin or a custome one?

For me I have used both 2 & 4 Deck default skins

The main issue I had with the 2 deck skin was the faders both faders & L.E.d's on channel 1&3 were controlling deck 1 and both faders on channel 2&4 were controlling deck 2
this was in VDJ7. The 4 deck skin in VDJ 7 worked fine fader wise but I was getting intermittent problems with the controller 'lights/pads' going off especially if the unit had gone in sleep mode and after I 'woke' it up the lights on the pads for example would all go off as would the platter lights etc etc.

So far I have not had any of these problems in VDJ8 although I haven't tried a 2 deck skin in that yet.

I have also recently customised the 4 deck skin in VDJ8 and again no problems occur.

The unit works perfectly with Serato (any deck mode) so I know its not a hardware issue Pioneer support said its a mapping issue with VDJ which I got to agree with from my experience but again to clarify no probs with VDJ8

Check and make sure your controller is in Serato mode you can look in the owners manual and it will show you how ro do it

The issue in VDJ 7 when using two decks with the SX was caused by 'wrap around' of the mapping due to only having two decks available for a four deck controller.

As you say, a four deck skin works fine - because the SX is a four deck controller. One solution (if you insist on a two deck skin) is to change the nbdecks reference from 2 to 4 in the skin XML to fool VDJ into using a four deck mapping config when there are only two.

Dunno if this is still the case with VDJ 8. They were aware of it, so it may have been addressed.
