Topic: Best place to buy lights?

I'm needing some new lights and I've been doing some shopping around

Any suggestions would be great!

Hi i use a Hemisphere 5 does a great job and fills the room, also can tie to your speakers stand with a nut & bolt. Can find a post on you tube if you type it in..

What is your budget, what are you trying to light up, and where do you live?
 
The hemisphere light is an excellent light. I own it and it's my best light.
 
I normally DJ weddings, birthday parties etc

Once in awhile I'll do bars/clubs and most of the time they don't have lights

So I'm looking for something easy to set up and tear down

I live in Missouri and my budget is about $150
 
better look for some used lighting because the budget is low for something new for your needs.
i think you can look at craigslist

No one has helped him out with this question yet! Any ideas of a good cheap and trusted place to buy lights? He lives in the US of A.

The best light effect for the price that I bought on ebay for hardly nothing was a 18w 6 colors Remote DMX512 Digital Crystal Magic Ball Disco DJ Stage light and cost me $38 and free shipping to Canada. I have $400 -$800 effects that don't compete. Very similar to the hemisphere 5 effect but crazy priced. When it breaks throw it away and buy a new one. Great with fog and fills the room with light beams. So far I've used it almost every Saturday at events for almost 1 year with no problem. sits or mounts anywhere. People actually notice it at parties. I have a $4000 full color laser system that people don't even comment on.

Many DJ shops won't stock it as it a hot seller but their profit margin at the end of the day decreases as well as their total sales monetarily.

I've found a couple of places that have a Par light system with tripod for $115-$140

I was really wanting LED's but so far everything I found is about $100 out of my budget right now so I might go with the Par lights for now because I am in need of lights bad I'm down to two mushroom lights one is LED and the other is an old school bulb light with a fan on the back that puts out a lot of heat

I had two LED's explode on me a few months ago so I've been using the two I've got but they suck and I'm about to hit a busy stretch so I need new lights
 
Dj gear pages on facebook are mint (I'm sure there's ones that aren't legit, so beware). However, I got invited to one by a friend and have found the best prices on used everything! Also craigslist and ebay sometimes have good deals.
 
I have to second the post about the ebay special crystal ball...... for under 40 bucks you get a light that is dmx controllable and if you get the 20 watt ones it fills up a room with color. Its crazy becuase my full setup is 4 motorized led rgb pinspots, 12 1/2 watt ildw lasers, 2 profile panels, 2 swarms, 10 led pars, 2 4plays, 2 hyper gems, 2 derby x's, 4 dual head motorized scanners, and a bunch of strobes all running on dmx..... The one light that is my go to light if I just want a nice effect for the floor is my $35 chrystal ball.... It is also the one light I would grab if I was doing a job that was small and just need some quick and easy lighting and it is the one light people really seem to notice.... As to places to get lights. I have used Cheaplights.com out of texas. Their gear is by no means adj or martin but it works and it lives up to its name for inexpensive.... Also ebay is a good source..... The best source for lasers I have found is directly from CASA they have as big as you want to go and for a china company the lasers work good and dont break the bank.

I have purchased many lighting fixtures from these guys, mostly of the theatrical variety, however they carry fixtures to fit the needs of any DJ right on up to premier entertainment venues. Just ordered the 20w DMX512 Crystal Magic Ball... looks like a good effect for small parties and for the price it's not a risk to give it a whirl.

They have payment plans for purchases over $250. I have purchased 75% of my gear from them. They do price matching too. They offer 4pay and 8pay plans depending on what you spend. Good customer service and a no hassle return policy.

I second that, except their 8 pay option is only available with the purchase of select items. But yeah, I've been using their payment plans for several years now and their customer service has always been top notch. I also once bought a "blemished" Voicelive from them & turned out it had a faulty usb socket, they took it back with no questions and sent me a brand new unit since that was the only "blemished" one they had. About to finish paying off my Maschine Mikro and buy a Zoom r 16 for mobile recording and video shoots, then a new guitar synth after that, zzounds rocks!!!
 
My main lights are 2 x Nucleus Pro . KAM LED Powerbar . ADJ Phase 2 Quad lights , 2 x Equinox fever .
