I noticed some post users mentioning they still use of Win XP still so with interest I wanted to know why. Are there advantages over Win 7.
Thank you in advance

I continued to use XP until about a year ago. for me it was purely a case of stability. I had a system that worked and was not giving me any issues so I left it alone.
I do now use W7 and have to say that it is working well with no stability issues. The reason for change was a concern over obsolesance.
Just MHO but I do think some people replace software too soon sometimes. It is rare for new software (Especialy Operating Systems) to be trouble free when first issued. I would rather stay a version back and know it works than rush an untried software into service.

I still have XP on my VDJ laptop.
The older operating systems tend to have a smaller footprint and less going on "behind the scenes" than the newer ones. As Daz says, the older it is, the more you can be sure that it's stable and bug fixed too. Apparently "mission critical" uers such as medical, military and aviation use older systems for this reason.
When running an older OS on a newer computer, it tends to be more zippy too - because the modern CPUs are faster than the ones which were around when the OS was released. You do need to bear in mind that new hardware may not function under an old OS because it didn't exist at that time (the hardware is too new) so ensure that drivers for your particular setup are available.
In my case, the laptop is an old one so all the hardware works fine under XP. That may not be the case if I were to install Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 because the hardware may be too old.

probably time to drop XP
microsoft stops support for it this month, so no more security updates!
so unless you never connect your xp machine to the internet, its upgrade time
