Topic: Cleaning my database

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

Every few months I restore my OS back to an image that is relatively clean and new but has all the software set up the way I like it. It's a dedicated DJ/VJ/Karaoke machine so there aren't many programs on it.

I did that today. All went fine, but I thought it was about time I cleaned up my database. I've replaced a lot of songs with better quality versions and so there are many files that are in my database but don't exist on the hard drive. I used Clean and found that I couldn't find many songs in Search so I Reanalyzed the database. Took forever of course, but then I found that I'd lost many of my Virtual Folders.
I had backed up my database file so I've gone back to that and it's all good.

How do I clean my Database but retain my custom Virtual Folders?

I am bombarded with new videos every week from Promo Only. I have been a subscriber to the daily downloads for 6 years, I normally only download on a Friday and set everything up for the weekend.

This is my routine habit every Friday, last couple of jobs before the weekends gigs are;

1. - In VDJ Config/Browser/Check, Clean, then Fix <<<------- in that order

2. - Defrag System Hard Drive and External Database Hard Drive

3. - Finally I run https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner for PC Optimisation and Cleaning.

Cheers

Great, thanks for the advice, however my main issue is the fact that I lost my Virtual Folders and their contents. Is that normally part of the cleaning database process or have I missed a step or something?

No, you would not lose Virtual Folders following the procedures as set out above.

I have lots of Virtual Folders that have been setup for many months and are not affected by Database cleaning.

Cool, thanks, I'll give it a run tomorrow.

Hold up, I see what I've done, the database setting pop up was on C, my database file is on my D drive.
The whole process took a matter of moments, (and I have all my Virual Folders).
Thanks for the help guys.
