I got VDJ last summer, learned the basic and practiced. Now I feel limited by the mouse and keyboard and looking at purchasing a controller to have a more direct control over VDJ, here come the questions :)

1) I mostly stop my choice on the MC3000 any cons (Hardwire, service, drivers...)?

2) I see the MC3000 have is own sound card, for my day to day use this will not be required, can I use the controller only as an "special keyboard" to control VDJ and keep all my mixing and connection on my internal sound cards "Only PWR and USB will be connected to the controller" ?

3) I currently have VDJ Pro Basic, if I wish to retain all my current feature I will need to upgrade my basic to full to be able to run the controller or my basic will be able to handle this ?

Thanks

You will need to upgrade your VirtualDJ Pro Basic to the full Professional to be able to use MIDI controllers. Basic supports mouse/keyboard use only. You can upgrade at a discount by going to http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/index.html

You don't have to use the sound card in the MC3000 if you don't want to. With the full VirtualDJ Pro, you can use any other sound card of your own choice (Including your computer's built-in sound card) if you wish. The MIDI part of the MC3000 will still work to control VirtualDJ regardless of which sound card you use. The MC3000 has an ASIO driver, but you don't need to install this if you will not be using its built-in sound card.

Obviously, headphone pre-listen capability (If you need it) will depend on the sound card setup that you are using, but you probably already have it setup appropriately for your needs with VirtualDJ Pro Basic that you are using now.

use the sound card on the controller 9 out of 10 times it will perform better.

Maybe on my occasional speaker practice as I pass 98% of my mixing time on head phone and will probably do so for a long time.

Since I enjoy mixing with 4 decks and the controller is only a 2 channels what will happen while deck 1 and 3 are both playing and I decide to change EQ on deck 1 then switch to deck 3:

a) VDJ will read the EQ position that was there from deck 1 and apply the setting to deck 3 also ?

or

b) VDJ will not do anything to deck 3 EQ until I change it, VDJ receive the new value and apply it to deck 3 ?
