Hey lovely people,
I am looking for some advice.
One of the bars I play in regularly has asked me to look into setting them up an online radio station. I wondered if you guys had any hints or tips about this. Our upload speeds suck here in Cyprus so we need a radio server and I was going to use shoutcast too. I am going to build a dedicated desktop for them and want to make it as low power as possible as it will be on 24/7, it will also have its own dedicated internet line. The majority of the time it will be running automatically with pre-recorded playlists with some live shows throughout the week.
Spec for the desktop could be:
Celeron 2 x 2.7Ghz CPU
8GB DDR3 RAM
2 WD AV-25 (Always on Hard Drives, one for OS, one for music
On board sound (Will this be enough?)
Windows 7 Home Prem 64Bit
VDJ Pro
I cant seem to find out how we could pay royalties, they seem a bit fuzzy about this stuff over here!
The other thing I want to know but will it be possible for live shows to do these from another PC and dial into the radio server if the the prerecorded machine is dialed down (I know I didnt explain that very well). Basically I want to be able to offer the other DJ's from the bar the ability to have live shows connecting from their own homes or live from the bar.
Any comments about the hardware?
Any recommendations on good radio servers in Europe?
