hi guys, ive installed mac onto my new custom pc and everything is running smooth, im having an issue though with my music hdd, i always kept it in an external caddy, but now ive case mounted it and want to use it.
the issue im having though, is even though it appears in disk utility, it doesnt show in computer and also it is greyed out in disk utility. i believe its formatted to ntfs, im not sure why its not showing up, my w7 ntfs partition does.
any ideas?

never mind, not sure why, but i reformatted a seperate drive (one used for a test install of mountain lion) and now my music drive is active... ????/?? no idea why, and im not even going to try and understand why, but it works and thats all i need lol

All partitions should be available on Mac as well. Try to plug the Disc to a different USB port. Did you check for any rights (Normally it should provide Read only access)
NTFS format is only supported as Read Only. You will be able to read and load tracks from your NTFS Disc, but you will not be able to write to the Disc (update database etc).
If you intend to use the same External Hard Drive in both Windows and Mac computers, you need to re-format the Disc (and its partitions) to FAT

THANKS, ON CLOSER INSPECTION IT IS ACTUALLY FORMATTED IN FAT, SO THATS A BONUS, ITS WOPRKING NOW,M NOT SURE WHAT CAUSED IT TO WORK BUT FORMATTING THE OTHER HDD WITH THE TEST INSTALL ON SEEMED TO DO SOMETHING. oops.. caps, sorry, im not retypiong it lol,
anyway, its notw showing in vdj also and although its taking its time to load any folders, im sure adding the drive to the search database will sort that out, just gotta wait for it to be added now, which will take quite a while being that its a completely fuil 1tb drive lol, will let you know how it goes.
one thing i do like about mac tho, the audio quality seems to be a whole lot better right out of the box, no messing about with asio drivers or external soundcards (although i will be using my steinberg mi2 once i order some 6 1/4 jack to phono leads to plug it into my home amp).
