I had tested VDJ 7.4 with my Serato SL2 box and had been disapointed of the accuracy. In fact i found the BPM was moving way too much. Coming from Serato with BPM not moving from a single digit whenever you're not touching the vinyl or the pitch, i find the VDJ vinyl part weak. Then i went to read again what the website says about it and saw :

But, because of the intrinsic nature of the timecode technology, the software cannot clearly tell a pitch change from a scratch, so this pitch changing detection cannot be instantaneous.

I don't know how this part is developped but i think there is things that should be modified in the functions in the code.

In fact, when you scratch on Serato Scratch Live (SSL) the pitch value doesn't change. I think they implemented a kind of function that can make the difference between the regular vinyl move and scratches. In fact when you scratch there is in 99% of time a backward mouvement. You make the vinyl going backward. I think each time SSL detects that move it says not to try to calculate the BPM. So this permit to remain more stable
Sometimes when i tried to increase or decrease pitch on VDJ it was becoming insane. Increasing or decreasing way too much. I'm sure i'm not the only one who experienced that. Hope next version will definitaly give something strong and fast so that i can at least migrate to VDJ which i had started with

Not many timecode users here, most think its old outdated tech, but we have been told that the new timecode engine is a lot better and I do believe them. But when we'll see it is anyone guess, hopefully not too much longer

That's nothing compared to what I have been experience since 7.2 - 7.3 I am constantly losing signal.

I have tried different soundcards, the SL2, the internal soundcard of my DNX1600 and a NI Audio 4
Also different CV in combo with the above sound cards, the Traktor and Serator CV.

This really happens sporadically. Sometimes its right at the first track sometimes its mins. or an hour + into a set. Everything is playing OK, and then suddenly, I cue up the next track and move the CV back and forth or adjust the pitch nothing happen. When I go to the track that is playing and move the CV, nothing happens. I would then have to reboot VDJ and start over to get a connection again.

I have gone into the config to make sure I am getting a signal. Calibrated and that I have it set so that I get a good circle. Whenever I lose signal, I look at my calibration screen and sure enough, no circle even though the CV is still playing. I have also tried switching out the USB cables, as someone of the forum had suggested in the past. I have posted in the tech forum and someone has also suggested going the advanced config route, that did not seem to work for me either. Still same problem.

Haven't been able to get answers to this. So I have just been using SSL whenever I use my turntables. :( Really has been my BIGGEST frustrations with VDJ.

Other then the tracking not being as tight as I'd like it I've not really had a problem. As for the pitch I have had that happening in the past but there was something in the debug window I had to check or uncheck, I wanna say it had to do with the "clear sound".

Either way we've been told they got a handle on it so just use what works for you now, there's no rules when it comes to djn...........

That's what I am doing. I only use TT's and CDJ on my club gigs anyways, small bars I use controllers. Lately I've been doing a lot of small bars (like my residency now) and mobile. So it has not frustrated me as much as of late. Although admittedly, I've really enjoyed using Serato DJ with my DDJ-SX, more so than VDJ. So, as I have said in the past, I have one foot in each camp at the moment waiting on what VDJ 8 brings.

Yes we know your feelings, lol!! But you also have been told the fix is in and it's coming so come on bro, you don't have to express your dislike every chance you get, lol!!

It's coming just relax and use what you need to.......

I'm chillin, hehehe. I'm still here ain't I. Although I am getting the feeling some folks wish I wasn't. :(

Naw bro, nothing like that, lol! I think it'll definitely be worth the wait.

That happened to me a few times aswell. But I could fix that by just going to advanced config an click "apply" and "ok".
No need to restart the whole system.

Glad i'm not the only one. I started dj-ing with VDJ. I love it. It offers so many possibilities. When this timecode problem for vinyls will be fixed i think nothing will be able to beat this software cause i think the devs have more advanced knowledges in PC than the Serato one. When i see how they answer on the forum regarding video problems i understand quickly how their level of knowledge is limited...............for example the Serato Video doen't use gpu hardware acceleration on PC but does it on MAC :s........anyway i hope that time VDJ 8 will be strong in all fields so that everyone really start seeing it at professional software like people see Serato.........
