What kind of table do you use to put all of your equipment on for shows?

I don't use a table. I use a purpose designed DJ deck stand.

That seems to be a difference between the US and the UK. DJs here (UK) tend to use deck stands or booths, with tables only being used by guys (how can I put it politely?) at the lower end of the market.

Whatever table or booth they have at the club/bar I am spinning at.

 
 
I have a heavy duty Keyboard stand under my Odyssey case for my NS 7. I still need a small table for my Rane mixer, Sound processing, Amp and Wireless mic rack. Does that mean I am "low end"? Lol

Low end shows, yes I see your point @groovindj. I have always had a table, covering, and skirt for every Wedding or larger event. It is the cheap shows like a house party or social club hall that often has poor selection and no table skirt to hide my wires. I think that is what he is asking about. For these shows, I always make them produce a table (all venues have them, there is no need for you to provide) and I bring my stand just in case. I like the height better when my case is on the stand and the rack can go on the floor if the place is that much of a dive that they don't have a small table.

Know your size requirements and more importantly, working height requirements. I always find tables are too low and I am about 6 foot tall. When I use a provided table, I always put my coffin case top cover on the table and then the bottom part of the case with all the electronics on top of that. Works perfect and very stable.

Also, instead of getting a table skit for smaller events (to cover wires), I bought the Chauvet Motion Façade. Skirts are too formal for those small events and look out of place. I also found that this full LED lit Façade is only about $50 more than just a plan table skirt and gets me TONS of compliments. It just is not a good choice for formal events in my personal opinion. I try not to stand out at formal events, for the sake of good pictures.
 
I like to be self sufficient. I like to arrive at a venue knowing I will not have any issues. Plus I have several ways of configuring my deck stand memorised so I can cater for most situations. Only once or twice have I been caught out - as my deck stand is 6ft and doesn't like small spaces ;-)

But I have always been able to compromise. My deck stand has a built in t-bar, SO I bought a pair of tripod stands from the same manufacturer which means if I'm tight for space I can transfer my t-bar and lights to a standalone setup and adjust accordingly. the stands came with 4ft T-bars so I have even more configuration options if necessary.

These STANDALONE T-bars also double up as a screen (complete with stretched lycra) for rear projection, so I pretty much have all combinations covered.

Relying on the venue, in my mind, is always a bad idea...

For a table? I disagree. Don't get me wrong I bring everything on my first day at a new place. But there is always a table somewhere. What would the guests eat on or gather around? Keep in mind, I rarely play clubs.

Outdoors or a tent situation is different...
 
My contract states, the venue must provide a table for my use. Why drag one around? For outdoor events, where the venue can't supply one, I use a 5' foldable table.
 
This is my elaborate over the road set-up. You have to have trailer space and vehicle to haul it, to use something like this.
 
I use a solid keyboard stand and put the flightcase with all the gear in it on top of that

If you use this kind of solition, remember to include something to put in front of it to make it look good, and hide all the cables.
This can be a wooden sign with your DJ name on it, something that has light in it, or simply a re-fitted tablecloth - just as long as you have something there

See, there is a difference! :-) LOL

The US guys are sticking up for using a table/relying on the venue, and the Brits are using dedicated stands.

I've seen a lot of setup pics from US DJs (inc. the setup thread here) and IMO it just looks untidy when the rest of the kit is neatly presented, but the playback/source kit is just dumped on top of a table.

C'est la vie though I guess, que sera sera and all that.
 
I DJ'd at a bar once that did not have a proper DJ booth or table. They put together 2 of the bar tables. The tall ones. So the entire night, I was DJ'ing with my gear at chest level. That was not comfortable at all, but better than a short table where I had to stoop down and hurt my back. hahahahah
