Currently, I own a Numark Mixtrack. It's the cheapest thing I could find so I bought it. I'd say I'm happy with it. It's a great tool for DJing, especially with VDJ. However, I know it's not the best controller. I'm planning to get a new controller and I want one that I won't have to replace in the first few years. The best is... Well, whatever you guys think! Give me your top 5 DJ controllers, and then add the controller you use. Thanks!

I use a VCI-400, it's good but the pioneer is better, it's a good construction and generously sized, if the VCI were a little bigger and the pads were rubber like the 380 then I would say the VCI trumps it, but it doesn't

I noticed your profile picture. Is that an Icon iDJ? It looks like valuable piece of equipment to at least have. Not to be your main controller. Do you like it?

it's good for what it is... or was at the time..
It's okay construction, it comes in a very solid shell and has a full mixer and transport controls and you can link it with other icon icontrols. I fit full sized knobs and fader caps on it just fine to improve the mixing experience. But it's still a toy.
The downside is that the volume faders, pitch faders and crossfader are a little weak so you don't want to be too rough with them, but they are fine if you're gentile. When fitting larger knobs you need some glue to permanently attach them as the pole is a little short.
The biggest and almost unforgivable omission is that the LED's cannot be controlled through midi so you don't get any feed back from the software.
If you want something small you are probably better off with the Behringer CMD Micro, but then you don't get eq's... the only other controller that is portable and fully featured enough to run everything is Allen & Heath Xone K2, but then you don't get jogs... For a small size you have to have trade offs.

Alright. I was just wondering. If I were to get a portable controller I'd either get the Behringer CDM Micro, Numark DJ2Go, or the Icon iDJ. Thanks for all the info!

Anybody have any other good controllers? :)

numark ns6 or the new quad are pretty solid controllers. Well built with lots of features not the pioneer but close 2nd or 3rd

Can you use VDJ with a Traktor controller?
发表时间 Tue 23 Jul 13 @ 11:04 am
Yes you could if you really wanted to. It's just MIDI communication. The controller spits it out, the software reads it.

There is no "best" it comes down to which one you feel the most comfortable with. Go to a local music shop, play with the controllers there, and buy the one you like the most. It is a matter of personal preference.

Yes, but don't get a VMS4. I've BTDT. Never again!

Just my opinion
1. Nice build quality, good sound. Crappy cramped layout. Small jog wheels
2. same as above
3. Not bad. I had its sibling the NS6. Pretty solid nice layout.
4. Craptastic, save some money and get either the VCI 300 or better yet the VCI 380
5. The CDJs are out dated, the DJM 900 is a beast of a mixer. Got to work with one a few months ago, and now I really want one. Although I still think they are over priced.

I agree with the VMS 4. But the VMS 4.1 is way better and a reasonable price.
Lately I had a Numark 4Trak in my hands and I have to confess that I did "fall in love" with that... a little bit at least...

My favorites ones that I actually own are the MC3000 and the Reloop Terminal Mix 4
I also like the good old Hercules RMX and Steel. Build like tanks and run forever, but they are of course a bit outdated by now. They served me well!
I like the specs of the MC6000, but so many have had issues with VDJ and the 24bit sound card, so I'm holding back on that one
Regarding the cheap Numark controllers, I would root against them, since they don't have native ASIO in them. This includes the new mixdeck quad, as far as I can tell...
I'm sure the DDJ and the NS6 are excellent for VDJ - but a bit more expensive. I've never tried them myself
In general I would stay with the controllers that are build with VDJ or Serato in mind - not so much the Traktor controllers
Best regards
Klaus Mogensen

I dont know how your finances are, but before you go trying to invest in another controller. Ask yourself why do you want another one.
I started off with the mixtrack pro now NS6, only because it has the full stand alone mixer for all of my equipment when I do gigs. I want to upgrade to the NS7 II, but i decided ill let the NS6 gigs pay for it, in this business you dont want to go broke trying to buy DJ equipment. I know alot of DJs that just buy the new stuff for the hack of it, and on top of that make sure you use your controller to the fullest. I know a DJ now who is amaze of the looks of new controllers, He has the DDJ SX, but dont know how to fully use it and now talking bout getting the NS7 II, what a waste, and he plays in a club, and dont mix either. Before I upgrade I will learn inside and out of my NS6 and make sure my NS7II is not coming out of my pockets, but my gig money. This DJing is something im doing on the side. Also I still have my Mixtrack and some extra speakers, and ill start renting that out to get money to.
