When I use VDJ for karaoke, (3 or 4 times a week), I don't use the karaoke plugin, I just use it as I do for DJ/VJ, 4 decks, as I use a lot of animated video 'signs', instructions & promo stuff on decks 3 & 4. Anyhow, occasionally, after a song has ended and I'm back announcing the singer, the last songs audio plays again, not from the beginning, but from about 20 seconds before the end. I quickly drop the mixer fader and get on with my announcement and get the next singer on stage and singing from the other deck and then I check the previous song and sure enough, in the waveform, I see the ending of the song and then this extra bit appended to the end of the song! How can that happen?
I use a lot of key shortcuts and yes, two or three times I've thought I'm focused in the search window and I'm not and all hell breaks loose (lol), but when back announcing I'm always focused in command mode, starting a video deck and switching to it etc.
One idea is that there may be a key command that adds a section of the song to the end and I've unknowingly hit that key during the song. Other than that I'm mystified.

I have stumbled upon a song ahving the extra bit at the end also. What I did is actually check the MP3 file in Audacity to make sure that the extra end bit is not part of the mp3,.
Well sure enought, the extra bit was in origanal file. I guess when its been rip, something went wrong.
So I just fixed it Audacity and all good.
I suggest check the original MP3 file to see if it is all good.

Thanks, but not the case here, I'll check next time it happens of course, but this has happened to songs that I play quite regularly and I know them well, there's nothing amiss.

I've had the same problem with some rips that had about 20 second remnants inserted at the end. Best thing to do is open the audio file and see if that's the case. That way you can tell if it's the player or the track causing the problem.
Good Luck,
Jimmy

I maybe completely off par here as I don't claim to know how MP3/CDG's work. However if the CDG has a time line that is longer than the MP3 track, then is there a chance VDJ is back filling or being directed by the CDG to skip back?
Editing the MP3 is one thing, but it could be a CDG issue...
Again, sorry if I'm completely wrong here... Just thinking out loud.
Cheers,
Roy

Yes, I follow your reasoning, you would think it could be something like that, but I remember that on at least one occasion it happened to a track that was a Divx video clip with mp3 audio and I know the length is right because I edited these myself, they're Laser Disc songs that I've captured and converted.
I'll take more notice next time it happens and take some notes. But:
1. I know it's not track or clip specific, it happens to songs that will have played correctly on 10 different occasions in VDJ.
2. It's a totally random thing, may not happen for 10 or 12 nights, then just happens once. However I do remember one night it happened about 3 times!
This is why I feel that I've accidentally triggered a loop or something. If it happened all the time I would just get in the habit of closing the mixer fader at songs end, but of course i become complacent, don't even think about it and Bam, it happens.
I've not had it happen when DJing because I'm going track for track without gaps and working the mixer faders manually, and usually without the distraction of announcements.
