Ok now Serato have a remote app, even DJay has a remote app.

Can you for the love of God please take a day to fix yours?

It crashes VDJ in (at least) 7.4, and even if it didnt, its next to useless without a browser.

You charged decent money for it (in app land) yet itsca piece of crap that's languished for over 2.5 years without any love. It was crap then and the only that makes it even more crap now is that now it even crashes VDJ.

Show some respect to all the people who bought it and fix it.

If its crashing then send in a support ticket as Ive never had mine crash.

Next the Serato app DOES NOT a browser, so in your own words theirs is "useless" just the same then.

Their app does no more then VDJ's and with VDJ's I can at least design a skin that fits my needs.

If you guys are gonna bitch about what another software has compared to ours at least come with some facts thatll backup what your complaining about. I dont even think theirs shows a song title..........

Oh and there app cost more then VDJ's, so that blows that argument out the box as well. The only thing Ill give them, is theres is wired so Im sure its a little more responsive.

Oh I am serious. And yes if theirs also does not have a browser then its also next to useless.
It crashes VDJ after a out a hour on 3 different machines, one of which is not mine btw.

And I could not give a shot about whether it can use skins when I can't even choose tracks properly or not have it crash VDJ after a whole.

Fact is this has been complained about many times by many people and they just don't give a stuff.

You are welcome to do the typical instant jump on anyone who dares complain about anything straw up their arse, but I think its a piece of crap that doesn't work properly and hadn't been touched for over 2.5 years when it desperately needs work.

And the price was not a comparison btw, just saying they charge for it and it doesn't even work properly anymore.

Well sorry to say it doesn't have browser support. As for the crashing, I stick by my first statement put in a support ticket.

As far as people complaining about this, I don't really think it's a priority but that's just my opinion.

And I'll apologize for coming across as an asshole, just don't like it when people compare it to another app that does the same thing and cost more.
 
In just sick of having to swop over to DJay everytime i have some kind of group 'catchup' so everyone can use the remote app for that program.
I personally am not a Serato fan, I just want the remote app for VDJ updated so I can finally not have to use DJay anymore. :)

Apologies for getting grumpy, its a sore point for me obviously.
 
Ah....I've just seen a video on how the Serato Remote track loading works. The remote just allows you to browse the library on the laptop screen by remotely moving the cursor.

IMO the one thing that would really make the VDJ remote useful to me is to have the database on the iPad.

I'd like the ability to browse my library on my iPad.

At the moment my laptop is the weak point in my rig. I use it to browse my library. If it stops working, I find it very hard to DJ comfortably from just my Denon decks.

The iPad would make a great backup, rather than having to take a second laptop - if only the VDJ database could be read by the app.

Not sure why I need an app to control vdj on my laptop, is it so I can go to the bathroom and mix? or sit at the bar with a drink and choose songs?


What I would really like to see is a virtual dj app for my ipad that is a total dj package something along the lines of djay or tracktor that allows me to play directly from my ipad...... Make it so I could cue through the headphone jack and play wireless That would be a great dj app



This serato app is nothing more than a midi controller allowing you to use your ipad to push buttons.

When at a wedding and during cocktail hour, you should be getting allot of things done. Intros, requests, etc. I usually take my iPad and contract with me for such tasks.

If you guys look back to 2010 when VDJ remote came out, I was saying from the beginning it needed a browser.

As far as using the iPad for your DJ source, you are missing the point. Now you are leaving your "Mobile device" at your booth. Then what? Have another one to control that? IOS devices are not a pro level source. It just needs to be a tool that you use when eating dinner with the crowd or socializing with your paying clients to find out what you can do to improve their experience. Not mix from the toilet, you can already do that!
 
I think the major problem on the browser search is the big ammount of data. I am not from the developing Team so i don't know if /how this could be done but think about a stupid search with "*" on the iPad.

I have heard from users that have 3 different drives with Databases about 260 MB all together. Imagine what it means to transfer 200 MB to your iPad and how long it takes. So i think it's not that easy to handle this without loosing much performance or freeze the iDevice while uploading hundreds of megabytes of results.

We already talked about this feature in the team but in my eyes (my personal meaning) the focu should be to get version 8 ready. After it is released and fully stable working there is much time for stuff like the iRemote which also has to change because many things in VDJ will change, too.

But anyway - i used the iPhone / iPad on multiple events without any reason !!! BUT i use a small access point and connect it to my Computer by cable - so i could deactivate my Wireless on the Computer. Remember that the AdHoc network can be used within a few meters from the Computer. If you want to walk arround a big room it's much better to have a full powered external access point which has much more Wifi power then the client card inside the Computer.

+1 for the request for a better browser. If iRemote can send scratching signals to VDJ in real-time I don't see why it can't send back a (partial) directory structure to iRemote to allow me to navigate my songs?

I'd also like to see multi-touch. I find it hard to believe it would be a difficult to add this on (as multi-touch is such a basic iOS feature) - it's silly I can't operate two faders at the same time.

-1, though, for the complaints about it crashing. I downloaded it last week and it's worked flawlessly for me on my set up. Raise a support ticket folks - the Atomix support guys are great and really responsive.

I'm half way done building a skin so I can use it as a full screen touchscreen to control the sampler. Just wish there was proper (some) VDJScript documentation for it though (so I wouldn't have to keep inundating djdad with support tickets).

I guess that may be the case with some users who have a huge database, but mine is under 30MB so I don't see any reason why it should be an issue for an iPad to access that data when my netbook can easily do it (and is not much more powerful).

Thinking about it, people used to employ far less powerful computers for databases in the 80s and 90s.
 
I don't say it's impossible but you really need to think how to handle it because the data needs to get transfered at every search - so 30 MB when you search for "*" needs ~1 minute to transfer i would think. So anyway - i am not from the dev team ;-)

We knew this request and i also requested it personally but at the moment the focus seems to be on Version 8 ;-)

Guys,

As I've stated before you can use Splashtop on both Android and iOS to remote control VDJ. It's not a perfect solution but depending on your device and selected skin you can control VDJ as you see it with the full capabilities including browser. All you need to do is create an ad-hoc wifi network from your PC.

I too bought the VDJ app but it's not really any good in it's current form.

Here's it on the Galaxy Note 2 working like a charm and the stylus really helps. I've been using this for months with the ipad previously and it's great!
 
Yes, I've already got Splashtop installed - and for the what it does, it's fine.

What I'm saying is that I'd like the database (XML file) to be stored on the iPad - not transferred every time, Heiko - so that I can use the iPad for searching if my computer fails (if that happens, Splashtop is no use).
 
But surely if your computer fails you've got no sound output either?

I don't DJ from my laptop. I use it as a database for browsing and searching.

As I said in my earlier post, I play the music from my Denon decks. They have small screens, so it's far easier to find stuff via VDJ on the laptop than using the Denons alone. The laptop being on also means that (should the Denons fail) I can resort to playing on VDJ.

Having a backup of the DB on the iPad would be convenient as it's easer to lug than a second laptop.

I greatly appreciate the first & serious response on this issue that I have ever seen from anyone with an Atomix title. Thank you.

I can also appreciate the VDJ 8 priority. Not expecting today like the OP. This is just an area of pain we have all delt with (that bought the app anyway). We would just like it to be addressed. The VDJ app is the main reason I chose the iPad in the first place, it is the only one not available on Android. That is not a cut, just a fact, so I noticed and bought the right tool.

My DB is also under 30 meg at a very modest 18,000 tracks. Not sure how one gets 200+ meg. Syncing 200+ meg is pretty crazy, but we have to anylise tracks ahead of time. This could just be one more pre show activty. From what I can see, this could work just like "add folder to DB" currently does in VDJ. It should be able to save the database to the iPad and operate off old data just like VDJ can currently does if you forget the pre show refreash.

I understand your points, but still feel there has to be a good way.
 
I try to keep to myself alot of times when I see some things cause I dont like to see a bickering session but I couldnt on this one

What did DJ's do before cell phones and tablets I know when I am DJing I don't leave the DJ Booth unless I have to Piss and then I have Piss Break Mixes I have made up before hand for situations like that I just don't see a purpose for a remote. And the Bartenders bring drinks to me also so I don't have to worry about that.
