is there a total number of files vdj with handle/recognize ?

Given how the database is managed I would pretty much say it is unlimited, although having more than say 50,000 files may make the search a bit slower.

Not really - having ~80.000 mp3 and ~10.000 videos. No issue ;-)

Remember that the Database itself only have around 50 mb.
