I suppose you mean the SYNC button. Pressing the SYNC button, it forces the pitch slider of the software to move to a position different than the actual position of the pitch slider of your controller. From that moment, the pitch slider of the controller will start "working" again, if you move it towards the position of the pitch slider of the software, and "catch" its position.
This behaviour is intentional to prevent sudden tempo changes when moving the pitch slider of the controller if the software (real) pitch has different value.

If you want to have the real pitch slider in the correct place, what you could do is:
Press SYNC so that the software pitch jumps to a new position (e.g. 4.5%), then use that information (pitch needs to be 4.5%) to move your real pitch to the same place. You'll be able to see the % figure and BPM on screen, so you know it's correct.
Alternatively forget about using SYNC and just move your pitch control so that the BPM of the deck is set the same as the other deck. Better still, forget about using SYNC or the BPM readout - use your ears to match the beats, adjusting the pitch as you go.
That's the way it was done before sync buttons, before BPM readouts and before computers. It's best to learn that method in case you ever have to DJ on kit that doesn't have sync or BPM displays.
