Topic: Subcription service Comments!

Ok here goes.... Last Saturday I went to my gig unloaded and realized I left my HD at home! All of them! I went online paid the 999 and used the service all night. No glitches, I had every song(granted radio versions), and rocked the house! VERU PLEASED AND WELL DONE I just sub'd the Karaoke for tonight.

You're lucky there was internet access at the venue. What if there wasn't? What would you have done?

Assuming you're running VDJ and therefore using a computer, I'm surprised that you don't have a selection of songs on your internal hard drive as a backup for that type of situation.
 
What.........you guys don't have your own hotspots? I have two, one on my smart phone and one on my tablet. However, I do have two external drives that I keep in my bag.
 
If you're commenting to my post, I do have internet connectivity on my phone and a mobile USB dongle - but I've never had to use either of them at a gig to get music, because I don't have any other means of playing music.

Plus, sometimes there's just no way to get a signal, which rules out using a mobile connection.
 
Great stuff and good to hear. Although I know what you're saying groovindj, this service is designed to save the day and provide the means to get that track you forgot, the request you didn't have, or oops, you forgot or damaged a hard drive! However, I think more and more people are discovering that the future could very well be cloud based entirely..
 
While I haven't used it yet for an entire job, I do use a cloud server for my personal listening. Andrew is right, that is the next wave. ATOMIX was very smart to jump in front of this one......
 
I have never had to use for the whole gig either, but I am connected at every gig. That had to have been very hectic. I have never been unable to get a signal, but any thing could happen. You just gave me an idea. What would I do if I could not find a signal? There's nothing wrong with saying "I'm sorry, I don't have that song". Except, when the mother gives you an itinerary, that has a song on it that was not on the request list that I received two days ago. This happened to me last Friday, during a sweet 16 party. So instead of just back handing her on the spot, I was able to get it through the service. So from now on, I will check every new venue, to see if I can get a signal, before the gig.
 
well, when did you back hand her ?
 
What I take from this is try you're best to be prepared for every and any situation, including having a backup for you're backup! When I start getting enough monthly gigs then I will definitely be looking into getting a subscription...

This makes you our grand prize winner for today. Our work here is done. My phone has almost 3k mp3s culled form past 4 years of events. That, and Amazon would get me through ANY event. Plus, all my laptops have the entire library and keep an external hard drive fully loaded as well.

If that was not enough, said library is also in my Google Music cloud. :)

My backups are backed up w/ a backup to the backup. :)
 
Yeah. My Note II has a 64Gb card with 4500 songs on it. If anything screwed up I would plug it in to the MC-6000 line-in and go from there. I even have multiple music players installed so I could go from track to track without a gap.

Could even use it for basic gigs it's that good.
