Topic: Upgrade a venue's free version ??

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

I have a quick question for anyone who can answer it ... I just started a new gig at a local club and they are using VDJ free edition. Can I upgrade that to my pro version for my benefit and if I decide to leave the venue ... Take my pro version out and give them back their free version without causing any conflict with my VDJ license ?? Just trying to keep it legal and loyal to VDJ :) Thanks for any help and advice

According to EULA:
1. VirtualDj HOME FREE can't be used on a Venue. It's for personal HOME usage only.
2. Your VirtualDJ PRO FULL license is owned by YOU, and YOU are the ONLY ONE who can use it legally. You can't lend/lease it to the Venue. In other words, if you leave the Venue (e.g. the days that you don't work there) they CAN'T use your copy of PRO legally.

That's according to EULA. You better wait for a response from a Staff Member too, as they know this (licensing issues) better than me!
:)

I didn't think they were supposed to be using the free version ... I was stuck using it tonight and I couldn't do some of my usual things due to the restrictions of the version ... HATED IT !! lol.

You must not install your own Pro license on their computer. Your Pro license is for your own use only and should only be installed on computers that you own. You may have up to two installations at any time on your own computers (One for live use, one on stand-by as a backup) - See http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Can%20I%20install%20the%20software%20on%20a%20new%20computer%20or%20more%20than%20one%20computer.html

If the club are using Home FREE then they are using the software illegally. Home FREE is for non-commercial use only.

Please ask the venue to support the software by purchasing it: http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html - They are obviously making money as a result of using it and should easily be able to afford it. If they have multiple rooms then they will need a license for each room.

Thank you for the info ... I may have them talked into buying at least the basic pro version. If they do this ... am I able to sign in under my VDJ login and take advantage of my premium audio membership ??

Sorry for the stupid questions ... I'm just trying to stay legal and loyal to VDJ !! Member for life !! :)

Yes, as long as you sign out when you are finished playing. You can copy any cached files you already have to the club machine and they should play when you are signed in.

...You Need To bring your own computer that has VDJ installed, then if they have music which you need to help you intertain, have that music/videos content put into an external hard drive and plug it into your legaly installed machine and work that way, not the other way around. you are playing rissian roulette with your license....
