So I just bought vdj and I have a djm 800 mixer and Cdj 850's. my question I can't figure out is what do I need to be able to use VDJ in a time code format. I can't seem to figure this out. What's the best or efficient way to get this accomplished. I am not very smart when it comes to this and really need help. Thank you in advance.

Welcome to VDj :-)
First up. If you have purchaced VDJ make sure you register your copy on the website :-)
Second. Take a little time to look round for the information you want. The chances are that someone has done it before. There is a host of information just a quick search away. Here is where to start with configuring Timecode.

I def will register ASAP. I guess my question also is what is better time code or HID? I'm so confused and overwhelmed. I just bought hercules dee jay trim 4/6, but now I see I may not need to use that since I have cdj 850's. any insight or opinions. I also have a djm 800 mixer if that means anything? Again thank you!

HID will be better because it's a direct communication between the controller and software.
Timecode was developed as a method of allowing vinyl loving turntable users to play tracks from DJ software. At that time there were very few controllers for software, and nothing that was similar to using a turntable.
Things have moved on, and now there are huge numbers of controllers with large jog wheels or even motorized platters with vinyl on - so the need for timecode has almost disappeared. It's mainly still used by turntablists.
