the "walkie talkies" in the club always make the volume drop by 75%
Did this info get fed back to Numark?

Unknown if Numark is aware of this issue. NAMM is over now but it sure would be nice to know if anyone has tested it with a radio. I doubt it because I don't even think that the software to connect it to Serato has been written yet. Otherwise we would have seen a video with it actually being used not just the lights blinking with it not connected to a computer.
WARNING: Anyone planning on pre-ordering the NS7 2 should beware and check to make sure that this issue has been fixed if you plan on using it to DJ in a club atmosphere where managers and staff are running around with radio's or a radio is being used in the DJ Booth as is usually the case in most clubs.
For me it is a huge issue and keeps me from using mine in the club where I work. The only time my NS7 makes it out of its case in my living room for a live show is if its a mobile gig somewhere that I know for sure radio's will not be in use anywhere near the DJ area. Would not have purchased it if I new it was so poorly insulated to radio transmissions.

I just sent an email to Numark to make sure that they are aware of the issue so if you buy an NS7-2 and have the same issue, you will know that they were aware of the issue and released the product any way.
Here is a copy of my email for posterity:
To whom it may concern,
I have seen the video's posted of the newly announced NS-7 II from the NAMM show. It looks very impressive and I am sure that once it is released it will do everything that is advertised, however, as an NS-7 owner for many years I need to know something very important before considering the newer unit. Several years ago I purchased the NS7 from Guitar Center for approx. $1300.00 USD. I spent probably close to 4 or 5 months practicing on it and awaiting mapping to be released for software other than ITCH so that I could use it in both the clubs that I worked at. When I was finally ready to begin work with it in the club atmosphere the return period had expired. I set it up and it worked flawlessly until an unforeseen event ocured. One of the managers walked into the DJ booth to speak to me and someone called him on his radio. When he went to respond and keyed up his walkie talkie to broadcast, the audio on the NS7 dropped 75% instantly. The NS7 is not insulated well enough against walkie talkie transmissions and almost all clubs use them to communicate with staff. This made my NS7 unusable for me in a club environment and because it was beyond the return period at Guitar Center I was stuck with it sitting in my living room
only usable in mobile DJ situations where I could be sure that no radio's would be used anywhere near it. This was a disaster for me with this equipment and put a very bad view of Numark products in my mind for a long time. Since then I purchased the Denon DN-MC6000 and tested it with a radio with no problems.
So I suppose my question to you now is, was Numark made aware of this issue and has it been resolved with the NS7 2? Also if so, would Numark be willing to make good on my purchase by swapping me out for the newer version when it becomes available? My NS7 is in mint condition due to lack of use, and I still have the original packaging.
Thanks in advance for your prompt response,
DJ James

Well done!
Manufacturers need to be made aware of these things.
