Topic: DMX automatically sync to music

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

Sorry if this has been covered before but I cannot find what I am looking for.

I know there is a plugin for VDJ that will allow ShowXpress to work off VDJ but I am not clear on what it can do.

What I am looking for is some DMX control that I can write DMX shows with and that will automatically begin the show with the song it was wrote for. So if I play song ABC, a light show for ABC begins. What if anything does this and how (ie. through syncing computers or is there something that can do it another way)? Also I am using VDJ pro 7.3 on a Macbook Pro but use a PC for DMX control. Is that going to create a problem?

Lighting is my next project to tackle.

Thanks in advance!

The showxpress plugin will let you do what you're wanting to a point. It uses cue points in VDJ to send a trigger to showxpress. But I think you can only have a certain number of cues, and those cues all have to be pointed to a specific light cue that you have to label. Like c100...c101...c102. So it's time consuming to setup if wanting to do it for an entire library. But would be good if you want to program a custom light sequence for a bride and groom First Dance or something. Lumidesk is my program of choice for dmx, and they are starting to work on their own plugin. Also, VDJ 8 may offer some additional features that make this easier. In some of the preview videos on youtube, they reference POI, points of Interest, which may be useful in sending cues to dmx software among other uses.

Is there anything that works via a midi trigger or some other input that will work with what I am wanting to do? A limited number of programs that cue up really restricts me from what I am trying to do.

if your like me and always set a cue at specific times in the mix eg. start, first breakdown, first section, breakdown, buildup, main, mix out etc.. and you always use the same cue numbers everytime, you could simply open your browser database in notepad and use find and replace to change the cue names in a batch so you have a default lighting control, but if you want to start setting the cues I recommend you get a controller like a novation launchpad and map the buttons to set the cue and the cue name to whatever you need it to be

Best advice for you I think. Either that or thier Live Mobile app (Droid or IOS). That way you can trigger scenes without minimising VDJ. I actually have SX on another PC and network the BPM from VDJ, then use my iPad to trigger scenes instead of scrolling with the mouse. WAY better

Makeing a whole light show for each song just is not how most people do it. I have over 17,000 songs! You just can't script a whole night and take requests. But IF you really want to make "Timeline" shows in Show Express, you can trigger that Timeline show with a button in Live. Then name that button something. Once done, you can trigger that Live Timeline button with a Cue at the start of the song in VDJ.

BUT now you can't change the BPM of the song playing in VDJ at all now. So forget mixing...

Personally, that is why I did not really jump right in, on you other post. I really think there is a smarter way. Synthet1c has it, use common cues and trigger effects for break downs. Highlight the song instead of scripting the whole song. I respect your passion, but if you want to have a home life.... Some of my nice Timelines took about 1 hour, per 1 min of song to build. Avg song being 4 min, times 17,000 songs, do the math, not pretty. Once I did a Timeline show for MJ's Thriller, thank God it was the dance floor edit!

Remember the Cue numbers don't have to be the same, it is the Cue Name that triggers the Live button from that plug in.
