Topic: High school party song suggestions?

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

Hey guys,

DJing at a kid's 17th birthday party.

There will be a pretty even mix of guys and girls.

His parents along with a few other parents will be there so I don't want to be dropping f-bombs every second.

He's not a huge "techno fan..."

Any song/genre suggestions?

Peruse Billboard and ringtone charts. Take with you at least the top 50. Not much you can do with the language. I swear 45 of 50 Promo Only tracks have "content warnings".

doesnt like "techno" - get a list of what he does like and let him know the girls at the party are going to request things that he doesnt like, and that he should get used to it now that he's older.

only half kidding about that.

find out what he want's for music then and be ready to have walmart and radio edits of lil' wayne, etc., and be ready for complaints from the kids and the parents both when the music is inconprehensible because the track is playing backwards every couple seconds with all the editing.

unless you get clearance from the parents beforehand for "grown-up music", in which case its "game on!" and you can treat it like a regular gig.

+1

I ask what radio stations they listen to along with a few specific songs and artists they like. Then listen to them and find some souces to get similar artists. You should let his parents no that you will be unable to find an edited version of every song because yes there some songs hard to find edited(unless you edit it youself).

And brace yourself...
My first gig ever was a quincenera(equivalent of sweet 16 for those that dont know) and immediately after the main "show" was over and everyone ready to party, I got flooded with requests. There were requests from 7 year olds all the way to grown parents. I heard through time was "can you play this, play less of that, more like this, can you play this off my..,can you play better.." The girl wanted to hear certain kind of music so finally I told to ask her parents of course they said NO.

Anyway..Good Luck!

Parties for kids are easy. All they want to hear is Hop Hop (Clean Versions), Reggae, Pop, Dance & Maybe some latin. I would ask them to give a short list of preffered songs and it would give me a idea of how i should prepare my sets. Most of the Time when i Dj, i only get a few to hardly any request.

Top 40 Clean Versions.

The kids won't care about the dirty versions but the parents will.

At 17 he won't think he is or want to be thought of as a kid... have a good un'

Start your evening in a background sing along chart music such as maybe bruno mars kind of thing with a bit of Cee lo for the funky beats For the girls Katy perry for the boys and girls David Guetta but try to finish of on chart dance for the last hour or half an hour. Also keep asking for requests get as many of them up as possible and make them feel part of it. As it is a younger persons party try to stick to what they want.
