Topic: Numark Mixtrack Pro or American Audio VMS2 ?

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

Hi all,

I want to buy controllers to start mixing with :

MacBook Air,
M-Audio BX5 d2.

But I hesitate between Mixtrack Numark Pro (260 $) and the American Audio VMS2 (310 $).
I wanted your advice and opinions on both consoles, because I don't know which one to take.

I want to mix House / Electro music.

Thank you in advance.

Cordially.

I don't think you can go wrong with either unit. The American Audio is more rugged and gives you some more options with the analog abilities of the mixer. I use the MixTrack Pro and I really like it.

Like Bennete said, you can't go wrong with both. But if those are your 2 options, I take it money must be an issue. (when isn't it?)

I got my self the Numark N4 - (the next level up from Mixtrack) and I def recommend that over the mixtrack.

I haven't tried the American Audio VMS2, the only positive things I can comment on is the solid steel construction and it has an ASIO sound card built in with multiple inputs and outputs. Another plus for the VMS2 would be that it's an analog mixer.

I have owned the Mixtrack pro, the unit worked great but for me there were 2 drawbacks to the unit. 1st the sound card was not ASIO and no inputs on the sound card. 2nd drawback was the 100% plastic construction. This unit is more for a bedroom DJ, it's definitely not built to withstand road travel. On the plus size the jog wheels worked great and the size of the unit gives it a nicely spaced out layout. The unit is a solid performer, I just couldn't get over the fact that the unit weight less than most of my sons toys.

I almost want to give the VMS2 the win but since I'm a previous owner of a VMS4 and it has been well documented how that unit was an epic failure I would tell you to be very cautious about getting a VMS2. The VMS2 is not supposed to have the problems the original VMS4 has according to American Audio's marketing department. Make sure you read lots of reviews from other VMS2 owners, try it out for yourself at your local DJ store and buy it from a place that has a good return policy in case you decide the unit is not for you.

Id give the Numark Mixtrack pro a good buy rating if your on a limited budget and you do not plan on using it at gigs due to the delicate plastic feel of the unit.
You should also consider a Hercules 4mx, solid performance and solid build around the same price range.

I simply CANNOT believe what I am hearing from all of you guys...... For the past two years on this board I've seen more ppl. complaining about every imaginable issue as it relates to American Audio products, PARTICULARLY THE VMS 2!!.........Mixtrack ALL DAY!!....Mixtrack maybe isn't as sophisticated (lack of extra knobs and no stand alone mixer, like the VMS) but it has QUALITY........I see ppl., posting on here that American Audio was the worst piece of kit the EVER bought.........again, mixtrack ALL day!!.....If the analog mixer is wanted, (like the VMS 2) and a bit more button options, go with the Denon MC300 or 6000 (very highly rated and much, much better than anything A.A. has put out)......

Hi I have a vms2 controller for about 6 month sometimes it works fine then other times after a short while the songs I play starts to stutter and stop and start but when I unplug the USB and plug back in and restart software works fine any ideas

The vms2 is a solid tool for performance minded vDJs and DJs in general.
Has good sound quality and integrates fine with most DJ software.
It has replaceable crossfader and several input and out put options .

Conclusion.
If you are looking for for a tool that will last long and give you the best performance in usage and integration with your analogue turntables its the perfect unit within that budget otherwise go for the vms4

p.s we all have our own different setup on stage so not all flaws apply to all DJs .

How so? A great many people got stung with the original VMS4, including me. The evidence is all over the ADJ forum.

I'd certainly never buy another ADJ controller based on that experience. This guy did and look what happened...
